—-Chit keng hiong-chhoan ê T. M. kàu-hoē tī chiâⁿ cha̍p nî chêng hō͘ lâng khoàⁿ choè sī hoē-iú choē, keng-chè hó, sìn-tô͘ jia̍t-sim ê kàu-hoē; nā-sī kūn-lâi hián-jiân teh soe-thè lah.
Lîm Tiong-iông Thoân-tō kuī tī pài-tn̂g ê káng-tâi chêng teh kî-tó; kau-chi̍p tī i sim-lāi ê thòng-khó͘ thang tuì chhuì-nih ê thó͘-khuì chhám-chhoeh, sīm-chì lâu ba̍k-sái ê siaⁿ piáu-hiān chhut-lâi. Kî-tó soah, chhin-chhiūⁿ chin ià-siān ê khoán-sit, ji̍p-lâi chē tī tha̍k-chheh uī, chhi̍h toh-téng ê ji̍t-kong-teng to̍h, chhiú lám-heng, thâu-khak kia̍h koâiⁿ teh tîm-su; chi̍t-bō͘ chi̍t-bō͘ ê hoê-ek tuì i ê náu-lāi cháu kè-khì.
Nn̄g nî chêng: I chhoā hū-jîn-lâng Siok-cheng kap nn̄g ê kiáⁿ-jî Kèng-it, Sìn-it lâi kàu chit keng kàu-hoē hù-jīm. Hu-hū lóng phāu tio̍h moá-hoâi ê jia̍t chêng beh uī Chú chè kang, sū-si̍t iā án-ni; in ū choân-sim piàⁿ-miā tī só͘ kau-tāi ê chit-hūn. I tek-pia̍t ū pò͘-tō ê un-sù, só͘-í tuì goā ê kang-chok; bô-lūn tāi-chiòng pò͘-tō, á-sī kò-jîn pò͘-tō lóng chīn só͘ oē ê teh choè. àm-sî nā bô chū-hoē, chiū chio hoē-iú, tióng-chip khì ta̍k chng-siā pò͘-tō, choè hoàn-teng, pun pò͘-tō-toaⁿ. Ū sî i ka-kī chi̍t ê lâng khì kap hiah ê boē io̍h-á ê ông-lo̍k-sian chē, tī koe-lō͘ piⁿ káng-kái hok-im, chio lâng lâi tit pêng-an io̍h, hit ê jia̍t-chêng bô khah su hiah ê lâng. Ji̍t-sî tī lō͘-nih, á-sī kok ka-têng khì kap siā-hoē kok-sek, kok-iūⁿ ê bī-sìn-chiá chiap-chhiok tâm-tō…… I án-ni choè, chiū-sī i chai-iáⁿ che sī kin-á-ji̍t hiong-chhoan kàu-hoē bán-kiù thè-pō͘ ê î-it hong-hoat. Ū-iáⁿ! lâng sui-jiân ngī-sim bô hiah khoài lâi sìn, m̄-kú ū choè kang pit-tēng ū siu-sêng, tī chi̍t nn̄g nî bô ià-siān ê kag-chok hā, iā tit-tio̍h 5 hō͘ ê choân ke kap kuí-nā ê chheng-liân lâi bō͘-tō, ū ê iā siū soé-lé, nā-sī án-ni iáu bô hoat-tō͘ thang èng-hù to͘-chhī ê siau-lō͘(供不應求). Nn̄g nî chêng i lâi hù-jīm ê sî kàu-hoē ū 30 hō͘, taⁿ ū ke-thiⁿ 5 hō͘, eng-kai sī 35 hō͘ chiah tio̍h, m̄-kú si̍t-chāi chiah chhun 20 goā hō͘ nā-tiāⁿ, só͘ bô khì ê lâng tong-jiân lóng sī siū sî-tāi ê kip-piàn, kang-gia̍p siā-hoē ê éng-hióng lâu chhut-khì tī goā-bīn lah; jî-chiáⁿ chiah ê lâng toā-pō͘-hūn sī khah jia̍t-sim, keng-chè iā pí-kàu khah hó ê lâng. Chhin-chhiūⁿ choè I-seng ê Lâu Tiúⁿ-ló; choè toā sū-gia̍p ê Tân Tiúⁿ-ló; choè seng-lí ê Ông Chip-sū, á-sī kong-bū-oân Sím Kho-tiúⁿ, Lô͘ Lāu-su téng-téng, in lóng sī kàu-hoē ê toā thiāu-chio̍h. In ê lī-khui ná chhin-chhiūⁿ chi̍t keng chhù ê tòng-liông chiām-chiām siū thiah cháu chi̍t-iūⁿ. Sui-jiân in tī to͘-chhī ê kàu-hoē iû-goân iā kè-sio̍k in ê jia̍t-sim, nā-sī chhân-chng ê kàu-hoē ná lâi ná giâm-tiōng. Lé-pài-ji̍t khoàⁿ-kìⁿ cheng-chheng(清清)bān-bān(慢慢)ê hoē-iú teh choè lé-pài, lāi-bīn 40 liâu í-á kàu-gia̍h hō͘ chi̍t lâng chē chi̍t liâu koh ū chhun. I siu-éng bûn-ngá ê káng-tō hong-sek, boē thag chhì-khek chiah ê lāu-lâng kap kū-jîn-lâng ê siau-hoà; ū sî chí-ū chiâⁿ-hoè chi̍t tiûⁿ ê chhui-bîn-khiok chhiùⁿ hō͘ in an-bîn ji̍p thian-kok nā-tiāⁿ; hoē-iú chi̍t phiàn jia̍t-sêng ê hé ji̍p-lâi kèng-pài, hoán-tg2 toà tio̍h chi̍t tè léng-tām ê peng tńg-khì. In ê sìn-sim kiám-chhái chiū tī chit khoán ê khong-khì tiong léng-tām lah.
Kūn-lâi i chai-iáⁿ hoē-iú chiām-chiām teh bô hoan-gêng i. Che thang tuì tī kî-tó-hoē in ê kî-tó khoàⁿ--chhut-lâi:
“Siōng-tè ah! kiû Lí ê Sèng Sîn chhiong-moá Lí ê kang-lâng, hō͘ i gâu choè kang, hō͘ goán ê kàu-hoē chhin-chhiūⁿ í-chêng ê khoán-sit……”
Kim ē-àm sī i choè kan-khó͘ sim, choè siū chhì-khek ê chi̍t àm, in-uī kî-tó-hoē soah, nî lāu ê Bo̍k Tiúⁿ-ló khoàⁿ tio̍h kî-tó-hoē ê jîn-sò chió kàu chhiⁿ-chhìn, the̍h chhut i ê chèng-gī-kám, tng i ê bīn-chêng bô soè-jī kóng:
“Sian-siⁿ ah! khoàⁿ-māi leh, chiah-nih chió lâng teh chū-hoē, lí kiám bô khoàⁿ-tio̍h?”
“Goá chai, nā-sī goá pí lín khah kan-khó͘ sim, goá pèng m̄-sī bô chīn goá ê khuì-la̍t, chóng-sī m̄-chai goá tio̍h cháiⁿ-iūⁿ choè?”
“Goá ê iau-kiû sī : chí iàu lí hoê-ho̍k chhin-chhiūⁿ nn̄g nî chêng ê chêng-hêng chiū hó.”
“Bo̍k Tiúⁿ-ló, kàu-hoē soe-thè ê goân-in, m̄-thang lóng-chióng koài goá, che sī sî-tāi ê hiān-siōng, kin-á-ji̍t ê hiong-chhoan kàu-hoē tāi-pō͘-hūn lóng siāng khoán ê kéng-gū. Kàu-hoē pún-lâi hiah ê toā-chiāu lóng chhut-khì lah, sin lâi ê hoē-iú beh chō-chiū kàu chhin-chhiūⁿ hiah ê lâng, m̄-sī chin khoài ê sū.”
“Che sī sū-si̍t, goá m̄-káⁿ hó͘-jīn; m̄-kú lán khoàⁿ chá-sî ê thoân-kàu-chiá uī sím-mi̍h oē thang hō͘ kàu-hoē tit-tio̍h heng-ōng, jî kin-á-ji̍t ê thoân-tō-chiá boē tàng nih? Goá ê ì-sù, sī lán eng-kai tio̍h koh hùn-hoat chiah tio̍h.”
“To-siā, goá chiah chīn só͘ oē ê lâi phah-piàⁿ, chhiáⁿ lín iā kap goá ha̍p-chok.”

Siok-chēng ê àm-mî ti̍t-ti̍t tò-oá, goā-bīn ê hong hū-hū-háu, nā-sī i lóng bô kám-kak. Hut-jiân i thó͘ chi̍t ê toā-khuì ê siaⁿ kiaⁿ-chhíⁿ teh khùn ê hū-jîn-lâng Siok-cheng.
“ÊN! Tiong-iông, lí iáu-bē khùn, hiān-chāi í-keng sī poàⁿ-mî lah.” Siok-cheng tuì bîn-chhn̂g peh khí-lâi, lâi chē tī i ê sin-piⁿ, koh kóng, “Ū sím-mi̍h tāi-chì hō͘ lí sit-bîn?”
“Siok-cheng, goá siūⁿ beh lī-khui thoân-tō ê kang.”
“Lí m̄-thang uī-tio̍h Bo̍k Tiúⁿ-ló só͘ kóng hiah ê oē lâi sit-chì.” Siok-cheng an-uì i kóng, “Bo̍k Tiúⁿ-ló ê oē sui-jiân ū khah bô kheh-khì, m̄-kú i só͘ kóng ê pèng m̄-sī m̄-tio̍h. I sī lāu toā-lâng, lán sī chheng-liân lâng, i tuì lán ê kéng-kò, sī hō lán khah oē kín-sīn kap kek-khí lán choè kang ê jia̍t-sêng, che tuì lán sī ū lī-ek ê.”
“Goá m̄-sī siong-sim Bo̍k Tiúⁿ-ló ê oē, goá sī kám-kak goá bô kàu khuì-la̍t thang hō͘ Chú ēng, m̄-thang khang chiàm thó͘-toē, put-jû lī-khui kàu-kài lâi khì choè pa̍t khoán ê kang-chok. iā ēng lán só͘ choè oē tit kàu ê sî-kan kap kim-chîⁿ lâi hōng-hiàn hō͘ Chú, che kap choè thoân-tō pîⁿ-pîⁿ siāng khoán, jī-chhiáⁿ tuì Siōng-tè kap lâng lóng khah pêng-an.”
“án-ni, lí sī m̄ kam-goān kā Chú choè kang, beh tô-pī sù-bēng sī bô?”
“M̄-sī, goá chin chū-kak; goān choè lô͘-po̍k tio̍h siū lâng siat-to̍k chit kù oē.”
“Lí ê oē ū mâu-tún.” Siok-cheng chhiò-chhiò kóng, “Lí kì-jiân goān choè lô͘-po̍k, lim chit ê khó͘-poe, uī sím-mi̍h iū-koh siūⁿ beh lī-khui sù-bēng khì choè pa̍t khoán ê kang?”
“In-uī goá kám-kak boē thang êng-kng Siōng-tè lī-ek lâng ah.”
“Nā-sī án-ni bô iàu-kín, lán ê Chú sī ài mn̄g lán ū teh choè bô? I bô mn̄g choè liáu án-choáⁿ, chí iàu lán tī Siōng-tè ê bīn-chêng bô kiàn-siàu I ê kang, án-ni chiū hó. chóng-sī ká-sú lán nā siam-pi chit ê sù-bēng, it-tēng boē thang tit-tio̍h chiok-hok. Goá siông-siông tian kóng í-chêng poàn-tô͘ jî-hoè ê kang-lâng, kàu bé lóng hō͘ Siōng-tè bô hoaⁿ-hí, tú-tio̍h bô hó kiat-kó.”
“Siok-cheng, lí ê kiàn-kài ū tām-po̍h chhò-gō͘, lí kóng nā bô choè thoân-tō, Siōng-tè bô chiok-hok, goá bô chàn-sêng lí chit kù oē. “Thoân-tō chit nn̄g jī m̄-sī pau-hâm ū chip-chiàu ê bo̍k-su, thoân-tō nā-tiāⁿ. Hiān-chāi lán teh kiông-tiau”Sìn-tô͘ kai-peng,” “Kang-gia̍p chit-he̍k thoân-tō.” Chit ê ì-sù sī kóng “Muí chi̍t ê hoē-iú lóng sī thoân-tō-jîn.” Choè chi̍t ê kàu-tn̂g, chhin-chhiūⁿ biō-kong chú-chhî lé-pài, chū-hoē, sûn hoē-iú nā-tiāⁿ, kî-thaⁿ ê ji̍t êng-êng bô choè sū. Kin-á-ji̍t ê sìn-tô͘ eng-kai tio̍h khiā tī ka-kī ê kong-uī siōng lâi choè kng, choè iâm ê sù-bēng, kiàn-chèng Ki-tok. Só͘-í goá siūⁿ hiah ê pêng-sî tī siā-hoē teh ho̍k-bū jîn-kûn, iā siāng-sî tī kàu-hoē teh choè kang ê sìn-tô͘ chiah sī sî-tāi ê thoâng-tō-chiá. Nā án-ni beh án-choáⁿ kóng Siōng-tè bô hoan-hí, hoán-tńg sī hō͘ Siōng-tè toā chiok-hok chiah tio̍h; sū-si̍t goá mā khoàⁿ chit khoán ê lâng chin chiàⁿ hō͘ Siōng-tè chiok-hok ê lâng chin-choē. Put-kò iā ū chin-choē lī-khui kàu-kài liáu-āu, soà lī-khui Siōng-tè ê lâng, goá to m̄-káⁿ kóng.”
“Goá chàn-sêng lí chiâⁿ-choè chi̍t ê sî-tāi ê thoân-kàu-chiá, nā-sī bô chàn-sêng lí lī-kui kàu-kài, in-uī goá kiaⁿ-liáu lí chit khoán ê lí-sióng, kàu ū chi̍t ji̍t phian-tiōng tī sè-kan lâi lī-khui Siōng-tè iā bô tek-khak.”
“Hó! goá chai lí ê ì-sù, goá goān pē chit ki sî-tāi ê si̍p-jī-kè.” Tiong-iông hut-jiân khoàⁿ-kìⁿ nn̄g ê kiáⁿ-jî khùn kàu chin suí, soà kóng, “M̄-kú lán ê kiáⁿ-jî chiong-lâi m̄-thang koh hō͘ in ū hūn chit ê kan-khó͘; goá hiān-chāi chiah chai, uī sím-mi̍h chin-choē thoân-kàu-chiá ê chú-tē chin chió lâng kè-sêng chit ê kang-chok ê goân-in lah.”
“Soè-kiáⁿ iáu-bē toā-hàn, lán m̄-chai Siōng-tè chiong-lâi jû-hô kā in an-pâi, lán boē thang kóng sím-mi̍h; put-kò bô-lūn in chiong lâi ū choè thoân-tō-chiá, á-sī choè pa̍t khoán ê kang, lán tī chit ê sî lóng tio̍h hó-hó chai-poê in tuì Siōng-tè eng-kai ū ê sù-bēng-kám chiah tio̍h.”
Siok-cheng kóng liáu, Tiong-iông put chí kám-kek i ê sìn-sim, tuì i ê chhiú khan leh, nn̄g lâng chiū kuī tī bîn-chhn̂g téng kî-tó.
Kî-tó soah, khoàⁿ goā-bīn ê thang-á, tuì tang-pêng siā-ji̍p chi̍t tiâu kng-soàⁿ, chiah chai thiⁿ í-keng kng lah.

Kin-á-ji̍t í-keng sī ge̍h-té lah, koè-kè Lô Chip-sū iáu-bē the̍h sin-kim lâi, chiàu í-chêng lóng tī ge̍h-tiong chiū oē the̍h--lâi, sui-jiân boē thang it-tēng ê ji̍t-kî chheng-chhó, iáu kú boē chhin-chhiūⁿ chit pái keng-kè beh 10 ji̍t kú lah. Chá-khí Siok-cheng beh chhut-khì boé chhài, chîⁿ-tē-á lāi péng-lâi péng-khì, chhun 5 kak gûn nā-tiāⁿ, bô hoat-tō͘ thang chhut mn̂g; tī lāi-bīn kiâⁿ-lâi kiâⁿ-khì, sim-lāi iā tio̍h-kip, iā kî-tó nn̄g ê kiáⁿ Kèng-it, Sìn-it ti̍t-ti̍t chhá ma-ma tio̍h koáⁿ-kín khì.
“Ma-ma, kin-á-ji̍t tio̍h kā goán boé bah tńg-lâi o͘h, goán chin kú lóng bô phè bah lah,” Kèng-it khiú lāu-bú ê saⁿ-á kóng.
“Ma-ma, tio̍h kā goá boé Tomato tńg-lâi o͘h,” Sìn-it iā kóng.
“Hó! Hó! tán chi̍t-ē, ma-ma it-tēng kā lín boé”
Tiong-iông khoàⁿ tio̍h nn̄g ê káⁿ teh chhá lāu-bú, khoàn liáu sim kan-khó͘, chiah tuì Siok-cheng kóng,
“Goá siūⁿ, tio̍h tńg-lâi kā pa-pa chhun tn̂g-chhiú chiah tio̍h.”
“M̄-kú chhun 5 kak gûn, beh án-choáⁿ chē chhia tńg-khì the̍h.”
“ia̍h bô mā tio̍h siá phoe kiò pa-pa kià 100 kho͘ lâi.”
“Tī chîⁿ iáu-bē lâi ê chitⁿg7, saⁿ ji̍t beh án-choáⁿ kè.”
“Ū-iáⁿ to tio̍h.” Tiong-iông thâu-khak khi-khi teh siūⁿ bô pān-hoat, chin kú chiah siūⁿ-tio̍h.
“Ah! Bêng-jîn hiaⁿ pêng-sî kap lán chin hó, lí seng khì kā i chioh 20 kho͘ hó bô?”
“M̄-thang, choa̍t-tuì m̄-thang; choè thoân-kàu-chiá bô-lūn jû-hô boē ēng-tit kā hoē-iú chioh chîⁿ, oē éng-hióng lán ê jîn-keh.”
“Á-sī lâi-khì kā tâng-kang ê Liāu Sian-siⁿ chioh hó bô?”
“Kuí ji̍t chêng i chiah cháu lâi kā lán chioh bô leh, lí soà boē kì-tit.”
“Lô Chip-sū kūn-ji̍t tit-tio̍h chi̍t ê eⁿ-á, tāi-khài sī bô-êng kàu boē kì-tit. Goá lâi-khì in tau, chi̍t bīn khoàⁿ i ê eⁿ-á, chi̍t bīn khoàⁿ i oē sūn-soà the̍h hō͘ goá boē?”
“Chit ê pān-hoat hó, chóng-sī i ê chhù chin hn̄g, khì koh tńg-lâi í-keng kè tàu lah, tiong-tàu m̄ tio̍h hō͘ iau?”
“Mā bô hoat-tō͘, goá chiah khiâ chhia khah kín leh, khoàⁿ oē thang tńg-lâi hù tàu boē?”
I ê chhia tú-á beh khiâ chhut-khì, Lô Chip-sū iā tú-hó khiâ chhia ji̍p-lâi.
“Lô Chip-sū pêng-an.”
“Pêng-an, sian-siⁿ-niû pêng-an,”
“Pêng-an, chhiáⁿ ji̍p-lâi chē.” Siok-cheng ná kóng ná giâ í, 3 ê lâng lóng ji̍p-lâi chē lâng-kheh-hiaⁿ.
“Chin kiong-hí, kám-siā Chú siúⁿ-sù lí koh tit-tio̍h chi̍t ê kong-chú, goá tú-tú be lâi-khì kā lí pài-hóng. Taⁿ Chip-sū-niû kap eⁿ-á lóng pêng-an ho͘N3?”
“Sī lah, tāi-khài koh nn̄g ge̍h-ji̍t.”
“Hāi lah, lán kàu-hoē ê keng-chè ná lâi ná bái, chit ge̍h-ji̍t kā lí thoa kè chiah kú, si̍t-chāi chin pháiⁿ-sè; sī in-uī khêng bô kàu thang hō͘ lí, khì tuì hoē-iú ê chhù kā in bō͘-koan, chiah bān kàu kin-á-ji̍t.”
“Boē lah, lí hiah-nih bô-êng, koh hō͘ lí tio̍h-boâ, chin to-siā.” Lô Chip-sū tuì choá tē-á piàⁿ chhut chi̍t tui ê chîⁿ, ū 10 kho͘--ê 5 kho͘--ê , chi̍t kho͘--ê, 5 kak--ê, iā ū nn̄g kak, chi̍t kak--ê.
“Lâi, lán lâi tàu sǹg, chiah ê sī tēng-kî hiàn-kim, lé-pài hiàn-kim, iā tuì Chú-ji̍t-o̍h hit pêng chioh lâi saⁿ-thiⁿ, khêng-khêng leh tú-á hó.”
“Ah! chiah choē chîⁿ, ma-ma, lán ū thang boé chhài lah.” Hut-jiân Sìn-it toā siaⁿ hoah chhut-lâi, hō͘ Tiong-iông, Siok-cheng ê bīn lóng âng--khí-lâi.
“Chit ge̍h-ji̍t ê bí, chi̍t kun sī 3 kho͘ poàⁿ; 4 ê lâng 160kun, tú-hó sī 560 kho͘, ha̍p pún-hōng 550 kho͘, lóng-chóng sī 1110 kho͘, lí sǹg khoàⁿ ū bô?”
“M̄-bián, chin to-siā.” Tiong-iông chiap hiah ê chîⁿ chiū suî-sî tuì 10 kho͘--ê the̍h 10 tiuⁿ khí-lâi, kóng, “Lô Chip-sū, chit ge̍h-ji̍t ê cha̍p-hūn-chi̍t hōng-hián, goá soà hō͘ lí, chin sit-lé kàu hiān-chāi chiah the̍h hō͘ lí.” Jiân-āu chiong hiah ê chîⁿ kau hō͘ Siok-cheng.
“Ah! hó! hó! án-ni chin tú-hó, chiah ê chîⁿ thang the̍h lâi-khì la̍p pún-ge̍h hūn ê tiān-huì, kā lâng khiàm kuí-nā ji̍t, hō͘ lâng lâi chhui kuí-nā pái.” Hut-jiân Lô Chip-sū ê bīn pìⁿ giâm-siok khí-lâi, chhin-chhiūⁿ ū oē beh kóng, m̄-káⁿ khui-chhuì, kám-kak chin pháiⁿ-sek3 ê khoán-sit, chin kú chiah kóng.
“Lîm Sian-siⁿ, ū chi̍t hāng tāi-chì chin pháiⁿ-sè kóng, m̄-kú sī siū tio̍h tióng-chip ê kau-tāi, bô kóng iā boē ēng-tit.”
“Bô iàu-kín, chí iàu choè oē tit kàu, goá goān chiap-siū lín ê ì-kiàn, chhiáⁿ lí kóng.”
“Lô Chip-sū goá seng sit-lé, goá tio̍h lâi-khì boé chhài, chhiáⁿ lí hia chē.” Siok-cheng tuì í-á peh khí-lâi.
“Hó! hó! chhiáⁿ lí bô-êng.” Lô Chip-sū tàm-thâu liáu-āu chiah ǹg Tiong-iông kóng,
“Cha hng chin àm, goán kuí-nā ê tióng-chip tī Bo̍k Tiúⁿ-ló ê chhù chham-siông kàu-hoē keng-chè ê būn-toê, in lóng kám-kak tio̍h kàu-hoē keng-chè chiah khùn-lân, m̄-chai lí oē thang chiong “pān-kong-huì” hit tiâu 5 chi-chhut siūⁿ pān-hoat khah chiat-séng leh boē?”
“Chit ê ì-sù sī án-choáⁿ, goá bô sím-mi̍h bêng-pe̍k.”
“Phì-jū lâi kóng: siok-sià lāi-bīn ê ēng tiān, chhin-chhiūⁿ chú-pn̄g ēng tiān-ko; joa̍h-thiⁿ ēng tiān-hong; àm-sî ê teng tiám chin àm, chiah ê khoàⁿ oē thang khah séng á boē?”

Hut-jiân lāi-bīn ê khong-khì chin an-chēng, cin kú Tiong-iông chiah chin soè-siaⁿ ìn-tap.
“àm-sî ê teng tiám chin àm, sī goá ê toh-téng hit ki 10 w ê ji̍t kong teng nā-tiāⁿ…… goá m̄-chai be án-choáⁿ. Kì-jiân choè chi̍t ê Siōng-tè ê lô͘-po̍k, boē thang hióng-siū goá só͘ ū ê koân-lī, goá iā m̄-káⁿ ke kóng sím-mi̍h. Put-kò lín eng-kai chai-iáⁿ, hō͘ chi̍t ê thoân-kàu-chiá boē thang koáⁿ tio̍h sî-tāi, hit ê sòng-sit m̄-nā i pún-sin nā-tiāⁿ, chéng-kò kàu-hoē ê sòng-sit koh-khah toā.” Chit sî Tiong-iông chin kek-tōng, ná lâi ná toā siaⁿ, ti̍t-ti̍t kóng.
“Goá bat thian tio̍h bó͘ tióng-chip chhin-sin tuì goá kóng, kūn-lâi ê sian-siⁿ, bo̍k-su sī teh thoân-tō͘, m̄-sī teh thoân-tō; khoàⁿ i lāi-bīn ê tiān-khì siat-pī, chhēng-chhah…… nā kap nn̄g chheng nî chêng ê Chú Iâ-so͘, kiâⁿ soé-lé Iok-hān, á-sī Pó-lô in pí-kàu khí-lâi, si̍t-chāi chha thiⁿ kàu toē. M̄-kú bô kuí-ji̍t āu chit ê tióng-chip koh khoàⁿ tio̍h chi̍t ê thoân-tō sian-siⁿ chhēng kah chin kán-tan, i mā kóng, choè kah chi̍t ê thoân-tō, bô sêng chi̍t ê sian-siⁿ pān, i kóng tō-lí mā bô lâng beh thiaⁿ. Lí siūⁿ, beh kiò sian-siⁿ sī choè sî-tāi ê lo̍k-ngō͘-chiá á-sī chiân-hong?”
Chit sî lán teh ko-chhiùⁿ “ Hok-im put-piàn, sî-tāi th piàn, thoân-tō tio̍h piàn” ê sî-tāi. Lán ê tióng-chip sī ài-goá khiā tī sím-mi̍h li̍p-tiûⁿ? oē kì-tit goá hù-jīm ê sî, ài lín chhoā goá lâi-khì kap toē-hng ê kok ki-koan siú-tiúⁿ se̍k-sāi; lín kóng kàu-hoē m̄-thang kap sè-kan chham-chhap, āu-lâi goá ka-kī khì chhē in, in ta̍k ê to chin hoan-gêng goá thoân hok-im hō͘ in thiaⁿ. Goá beh chhiáⁿ in lâi káng-ián; lín kóng-m̄-bián thiaⁿ hit khoán sio̍k-sū. Nn̄g ê kiáⁿ-jî ná chhin-chhiūⁿ kaⁿ-siû, chia̍h kah chin hoaⁿ-hí; nā-sī Tiong-iông phâng hit oáⁿ pn̄g khí-lâi, khoàⁿ tio̍h Siok-cheng ê pak-tó͘, iû-jiân ba̍k-sái lâu chhut-lâi, nn̄g ê gín-ná lóng bo̍k-bêng kî-biāu, sì luí ba̍k-chiu ti̍t-ti̍t kā i siòng, toā-hàn ê Kèng-it kā lāu-bú kóng,
“Ma-ma, lí kā pa-pa pun siuⁿ chió mi̍h-phè teh háu-à lah.,” hit sî Siok-cheng ê ba̍k-sái iā lâu chhut-lâi, nā-sī chhuì soà ài-chhiò.
Hit ê-tàu bô chia̍h pn̄g, Tiong-iông khiâ chi̍t tiám goā cheng ê chhia lâi kàu chhī-lāi chhē i choè hó ê lāu-su, choè oē pang-chān i ê Lí Khí-bêng Bo̍k-su, kìⁿ tio̍h bīn khui chhuì chiū kóng,
“Lí Bo̍k-su, goá bô hoat-tō͘ thang koh jím-siū tī chit keng kàu-hoē choè kang; goá koat-tēng beh sin-chhéng tiāu-tōng.”
“Hó, chin hó, chhiáⁿ lí kóng, nā ū chi̍t hāng sū pí Chú Iâ-so͘ só͘ siū tio̍h ê khah toā, goá goān-ì kā lí pang-bâng.”
“Lí ê ì-sù sī bô hoaⁿ-hí goá oāⁿ uī.”
“oē thang án-ni kóng.” Lí bo̍k-su tìm-thâu, “in-uī ū chin-choē ê tông-o̍h lóng chhin-chhiūⁿ lí lâi án-ni tuì goá iau-kiû kè, nā-sī in sêng-siū goá ê khó͘-khǹg, lóng koh tò-tńg khì in ê chit-uī.”
“M̄-kú goá siong-sìn, goá nā kóng hō͘ lí thiaⁿ liáu-āu, lí ún-tàng boē chó͘-tòng goá ê iau-kiû.”
“Chhiáⁿ lí kóng khoàⁿ-māi.”
Tiong-iông chiū ēng kek-tōng koh hùn-khài ê oē tuì lí Bo̍k-su ti̍t-ti̍t kóng, nā chhin-chhiūⁿ chi̍t ê siū un-khut 5 lâng tuì hoat-koaⁿ teh hun-sò͘ chi̍t-iūⁿ, i àn-sǹg chē tī bīn-chêng ê lāu-su oē kap i saⁿ-kap hùn-khài, nā-sī Lí Bo̍k-su thiaⁿ liáu put-tān bô tōng-iông, hoán-tńg ha-ha toa chhiò kóng,
“Lí iáu pí Tiuⁿ Ta̍t-în tông-o̍h khah thang kám-siā, i hō͘ chèng hoē-iú beh koáⁿ chhut-khì, koh kuí-nā ge̍h-ji̍t ê sin-kim bô thang hō͘ i lah.”
Pí siōng put-chiok, pí hā iú û(比上不足,比下有餘). Tiong iông ka-kī kám-kak, án-ni goá iáu thang kám-siā, sim chiah tām-po̍h an-uì, m̄-kú i ê sim-lāi iáu chhiong-moá chin-choē gî-bûn, tuì Lí bo̍k-su kóng,
‘uī sím-mi̍h choè chi̍t ê kang-lâng tio̍h án-ni siū-khó͘? uī sím-mi̍h sìn-tô͘ boē thang thé-liōng lán kap lán tâng-sim ho̍k-heng kàu-hoē? uī sím-mi̍h lán boē thang hióng-siū tio̍h sî-tāi ê koân-lī? uī sím-mi̍h lán ê ka-têng boē thang kap in pîⁿ-téng ê thāi-gū, uī sím-mi̍h……”
“Chhiáⁿ lí m̄-thang ti̍t-ti̍t kóng uī sím-mi̍h.” Lí Bo̍k-su chám-tn̄g i ê uī sím-mi̍h chiap lâi kóng, “Boē ēng-tit mn̄g Siōng-tè,”
uī sím-mi̍h tio̍h tuì Siōng-tè mn̄g kóng, “Goá tio̍h choè sím-mi̍h?” á-sī kóng, “Lí kā goá hē tī chia sī ài goá choè sím-mi̍h?”
Tiong-iông hō͘ Lí Bo̍k-su kóng án-ni, chhì-chha̍k i ê sim, soà kám-kak chin kiàn-siàu, Lí Bo̍k-su iā bô soè-jī kè-sio̍k kóng,
“Tiong-iông kun, kin-á-ji̍t hiong-chhoan kàu-hoē ê kéng-gū, goá hui-siông ê liáu-kái kap tông-chêng, te̍k-pia̍t sī chiah ê tâng-kang, put-kò goá ū 3 tiám ê kiàn-gī kóng hō͘ lí choè chham-khó, chhiáⁿ lí chiah siông-sè siūⁿ khoàⁿ-māi.”
1) Choè chi̍t ê chheng-liân ê thoân-kàu-chiá, tio̍h tāi-seng chū-kak chiah ê tāi-chì sī it-tēng oē pōng-tio̍h ê chhì-phiè. M̄-bián kóng kàu Sèng-keng tiong hiah ê sian-ti, sù-tô, te̍k-pia̍t sī Chú Iâ-so͘, chiū-sī lán hiān-chāi chiah ê toā bo̍k-su chu sian-poè, in ê sêng-kong lóng sī tī chit khoán ê hé-iām tiong jím-siū sêng-kong ê. Chóng-sī kūn-lâi ê kang-lâng ná chhin-chhiūⁿ tuì chit khoán ê khó͘-lān khoàⁿ choè boē koàn-sì, bô eng-kai. Goá jim-uî jú ū chit khoán ê khó͘-lān jú oē thang hián-bêng Siōng-tè tuì lí ê khì-tiōng. Só͘ uī “ pi-ài ê só͘-chāi chiū-sī Sèng ê toē.” Lí iā chai-iáⁿ sè-kài chhut-miâ ê Sèng-koa:

2) Kàu-hoē boē chìn-pō͘, sìn-tô͘ boē thang liáu-kái, keng-chè ê khùn-lân, che sī kin-á-ji̍t hiong-chhoan kàu-hoē pit-jiân ê hiān-siōng, só͘-í m̄-bián kè-thâu siong-sim, chí iàu tī Siōng-tè ê bîn-chêng chin pún-hūn khì choè chiū hó. 3) Choè iàu-kín ê chi̍t hāng: m̄-thang tô-pī sù-beng, choa̍t-tuì m̄-thang uī-tio̍h chiah ê khùn-lân lâi siūⁿ beh tiāu-tōng, án-ni sī hián-bêng lán sī sèng-kang siōng ê pāi-pok-chiá(敗北者). Lán teh kó͘-bú lán ê sìn-sô͘ tī chit ê sî-tāi tio̍h o̍h Chú ê khoán-sit; “Tuì-thiⁿ lâi kàu choē-ok ê sè-kài choè I chín-kiù lâng, thiàⁿ lâng ê kang, sīm-chì chiong chit ki chân-jím khó-phàⁿ ê si̍p-jī-kè pìⁿ-chiâⁿ êng-kng chhàn-lān ê kì-hō, só͘-í tio̍h tī chi̍t ê o͘-àm ê sè-kan choè kng, choè iâm ê sù-bēng.” Sū-si̍t chit ê chek-jīm tú-á sī lán tiàm tī hiong-chhoan kàu-hoē Siōng-tè só͘ hō͘ lán thoân-kàu-chiá kim-ji̍t ê khò-toê. Tiong-iông bô ìn, ti̍t-ti̍t tàm-thâu, bīn lō͘ chhut chhiò-iông, thang chai i chi̍t phiàn iu-ut, giâu-gî ê sim ì-keng hō͘ bo̍k-su ê oē chhiong-phoà.
“Bo̍k-su, nā-sī án-ni, ba̍k-chêng choè iàu-kín ê kang-chok sī sím-mi̍h?”
“Hiān-chāi choè iàu-kín ê kang-chok ū nn̄g hāng: Tē 1, tuì goā eng-kai siūⁿ chhut biāu-hoat “Thoân-tō,” tú-tú chiàu lí só͘ teh choè ê kè-sio̍k khì choè, m̄-thang ià-siān. Tē 2, tuì lāi, “Kàu-io̍k,” sìn-tô͘ ê gō͘-kái kap sêng-kiàn lóng sī khoat-hoa̍t kàu-io̍k ê goân-in.”
“M̄-kú pâi tī bīn-chêng ê seng-oa̍h būn-toê boē thang kái-koat, beh kiò lâng án-choáⁿ jím-siū?”
“Sī, che sī choè toā ê būn-toê, goá teh siūⁿ eng-kai tuì 3 hong-bīn lâi kái-koat: Tē 1, tiong-hoē eng-kai koan-sim. Tē 2, to͘-chhī kàu-hoē iā chhiáⁿ chhun-chhut pang-chān ê chhiú lâi. Tē 3, chhut goā ê hoē-iú eng-kai tī keng-chè tńg-lâi oān-chō͘ bú-hoē chiah tio̍h.”
“Che sī chin hó ê hong-hoat, m̄-chai in goān-ì kè-lâi pang-chān goán bô?”
“Goá oē chīn só͘ oē ê lâi ho͘-io̍k chit ê kang-chok.”

兩年前:伊 chhoā婦人人Siok-cheng kap兩個囝兒Kèng-it,Sìn-it來到這間教會赴任。夫婦攏抱著滿懷ê熱情beh 為主做工,事實也án-ni; in有全心拚命 tī所交代ê職份。伊特別有佈道ê恩賜,所以對外ê工作;無論大眾佈道,抑是個人佈道攏盡所會ê teh做。暗時若無聚會,就招會友,長執去逐 庄舍佈道,做幻燈,分佈道單。有時伊家己一個人去kap hiah ê 賣 藥-á ê王祿仙坐,tī街路邊講解福音,招人來得平安藥, hit個熱情無khah 輸 hiah ê人。日時tī路裡,抑是各家庭去kap社會各式,各樣ê未信者接觸談道。伊 án-ni做,就是伊知影這是今á日鄉村教會挽救退步 ê 唯一方法。有影!人雖然硬心無hiah快來信,m̄-kú有做工必定有收成,tī一兩年無厭倦ê 工作下,也得著5戶 ê全家kap 幾-nā個青年來bō͘-tō,有ê也受洗禮,若是án-ni iáu無法度thang應付都市ê 銷路(供不應求)。兩年前伊來赴任 ê時教會有30 戶, taⁿ有加添5 戶,應該是35 戶 chiah 著, m̄-kú實在chiah chhun 20 外戶nā-tiāⁿ,所無去ê人當然攏是受時代ê 急變,工業社會ê影響流出去tī外面lah; 而且 chiah ê人大部分是khah熱心,經濟也比較khah好ê人。親像做醫生ê Lâu長老;最大事業ê Tân長老;做生理ê王執事,抑是公務員Sím Kho-tiúⁿ, Lô͘老師等等,in攏是教會 ê大柱石。In ê離開ná親像一間厝ê 棟樑漸漸受拆走一樣。雖然in tī都市ê教會猶原也繼續in ê熱心,若是田庄 ê教會ná來ná嚴重。禮拜日看見清清(清清)慢慢(慢慢)ê會友teh做禮拜,內面40條椅-á夠額hō͘一人坐一條 koh有chhun。 伊siu-éng文雅ê講道方式,boē thang 刺激 chiah ê老人kap 婦人人ê 消化;有時只有成歲一場ê 催眠曲唱hō͘ in安眠入天國nā-tiāⁿ;會友一片熱誠 ê 匯入來敬拜,反-tńg toà 著一塊冷淡ê 冰 tńg去。In ê信心kiám-chhái就tī 這款ê空氣中冷淡lah.
近來伊知影會友漸漸teh無歡迎伊。這thang對tī祈禱會 in ê祈禱看--出來:
「上帝ah!求你ê聖神充滿你ê工人,hō͘ 伊 gâu做工,hō͘阮ê教會親像以前ê 款式……」
Kim ē-暗是伊最艱苦心,最受刺激 ê一暗,因為祈禱會soah,年老ê Bo̍k長老看著祈禱會 ê 人數少到悽凊,the̍h出伊ê正義感,當伊ê面前無細膩講:
「先生ah!看覓leh, chiah-nih少人teh聚會,你kiám無看著?」
「我知,若是我比恁 khah艱苦心,我並 m̄是無盡我ê氣力,總是m̄知我著怎樣做?」
「我ê要求是:只要你回復親像兩年前ê情形就好。」
「Bo̍k長老,教會衰退ê原因,m̄-thang攏總怪我,這是時代ê現象,今á日ê鄉村教會大部分攏相款ê境遇。教會本來hiah ê大柱攏出去lah,新來ê會友beh 造就到親像hiah ê人,m̄-是真快ê事。」
「這是事實,我m̄敢否認; m̄-kú咱看早時ê傳教者為甚麼會 thang hō͘教會得著興旺,而今á日ê傳道者boē tàng nih?我ê意思,是咱應該著 koh 奮發 chiah tio̍h.」
「多謝,我chiah盡所會ê來拍拚,請恁也kap我合作。」

肅靜ê暗暝直直tò-oá,外面ê 風 hū-hū-哮,若是伊攏無感覺。忽然伊吐一個大氣ê 聲驚醒teh睏ê 婦人人 Siok-cheng.
「ÊN!Tiong-iông,你iáu未睏,現在已經是半暝lah。」Siok-cheng 對眠床peh起來,來坐tī伊ê身邊,koh講:「有甚麼代誌hō͘你失眠?」
「Siok-cheng,我想beh離開傳道ê 工。」
「你m̄-thang為著 Bo̍k長老所講hiah ê話來失志。」Siok-cheng安慰伊講:「Bo̍k長老ê話雖然有khah無客氣,m̄-kú伊所講ê 並 m̄是m̄-tio̍h。 伊是老大人,咱是青年人,伊對咱ê警告,是hō͘咱khah 會謹慎kap激起咱做工ê熱誠,這對咱是有利益ê。」
「我m̄是傷心Bo̍k長老ê話,我是感覺我無夠氣力thang hō͘主用,m̄-thang 空佔土地,不如離開教界來去做別款ê工作。也用咱所做會得到 ê時間kap金錢來奉獻hō͘主,這kap做傳道平平相款,而且對上帝kap人攏khah平安。」
「án-ni,你是m̄甘願kā主做工,beh逃避使命是無?」
「m̄是,我真自覺;願做奴僕著受人褻瀆這句話。」
「你ê話有矛盾。」Siok-cheng笑笑講:「你既然願做奴僕,lim 這個苦杯,為甚麼又koh想beh離開使命去做別款ê 工?」
「因為我感覺boē-thang榮光上帝利益人ah。」
「若是án-ni無要緊,咱ê主是ài問咱有teh做無?伊無問做了按怎, 只要咱tī上帝ê面前無見笑伊ê 工,án-ni就好。總是假使咱若siám-pi 這個使命,一定boē-thang得著祝福。我常常聽講以前半途而廢ê工人,到尾攏hō͘上帝無歡喜,tú-著無好結果。」
「Siok-cheng,你ê 見解有淡薄錯誤,你講若無做傳道,上帝無祝福,我無贊成你這句話。「傳道這兩字 m̄是包含有執照ê 牧師,傳道nā-tiāⁿ。現在咱teh 強調「信徒皆兵」「工業chit-he̍k傳道。」這個意思是講「每一個會友攏是傳道人。」做一個教長,親像廟公主持禮拜,聚會,巡會友nā-tiāⁿ, 其他ê日閒閒無做事。今á日ê信徒應該著 khiā tī家己ê kong-uī上來做光,做鹽ê使命,見證基督。所以我想hiah ê平時tī社會teh服務人群,也siāng-時tī教會teh做工ê信徒chiah是時代ê 傳道者。 若 án-ni beh 按怎講上帝無歡喜,反tńg是hō͘上帝大祝福chiah tio̍h;事實我mā 看這款ê人真正hō͘上帝祝福ê人真濟。不過也有真濟離開教界了後,soà離開上帝ê人,我to m̄敢講。」
「我贊成你成做一個時代ê傳教者,若是無贊成你離開教界,因為我驚了你這款ê理想,到有一日偏重 tī世間來離開上帝也無的確。」
「好!我知你 ê意思,我願背這隻時代ê十字架。」Tiong-iông忽然看見兩個囝兒睏到真suí,續講:”M̄-kú咱ê 囝兒將來m̄-thang koh hō͘ in有份這個艱苦,我現在chiah知,為甚麼真濟傳教者 ê子弟真少人繼承這個工作ê原因lah。」
「細囝iáu未大漢,咱m̄知上帝將來如何kā in安排,咱boē-thang講甚麼,不過無論in將來有做傳道者,抑是做別款ê 工,咱tī 這個時攏著好好栽培in 對上帝應該有ê使命感 chiah tio̍h。」
Siok-cheng講了,Tiong-iông 不止感激伊ê信心,對伊ê手牽 leh,兩人就跪 tī眠床頂祈禱。
祈禱soah,看外面ê窗á,對東旁射入一條光線,chiah知天已經光lah.

今á日已經是月底 lah, 會計 羅執事iáu未the̍h 薪津來,照以前攏tī月中就會the̍h--來,雖然boē-thang一定ê日期清楚,iáu-kú boē親像這擺經過beh 10日久lah。早起Siok-cheng beh出去買菜,錢袋-á內péng-來péng-去,chhun 5 角銀nā-tiāⁿ,無法度thang出門; tī內面行來行去,心內也著急,也祈禱兩個囝Kèng-it,Sèng-it直直吵媽媽著趕緊去。
「媽媽,今á日著kā阮買肉tńg來o͘h,阮真久攏無配肉lah,」Kèng-it khiú老母ê衫-á講。
「媽媽,著 kā我買 Tomato tńg來o͘h,」Sèng-it也講。
「好!好!等一下,媽媽一定kā 恁買」
Tiong-iông看著兩個囝teh 吵老母,看了心艱苦,chiah 對 Siok-cheng講:
「我想,著 tńg來kā 爸爸 chhun 長手chiah tio̍h.」
「M̄-kú chhun 5 角銀,beh 按怎坐車 tńg去the̍h.」
「亦無mā 著寫批叫爸爸寄100 箍來。」
「Tī錢iáu未來ê 這兩,三日beh 按怎過。」
「有影to tio̍h.」Tiong-iông頭殼khi-khi teh想無辦法,真久chiah想著。
「Ah! Bêng-jîn 兄平時kap咱真好,你先去kā 伊借20 箍好無?」
「M̄-thang,絕對m̄-thang;做傳教者無論如何boē用得kā會友借錢,會影響咱ê 人格。」
「抑是來去kā同工ê 廖先生借好無?」
「幾日前伊 chiah走來kā咱借無leh,你soà boē記得。」
「羅執事近日得著一個嬰á,大概是無閒到 boē記得。我來去in 兜,一面看伊ê嬰á,一面看伊會順續the̍h hō͘我boē?」
「這個辦法好,總是伊ê厝真遠,去koh tńg來已經過晝 lah,中晝m̄ 著 hō͘ iau?」
「Mā無法度,我chiah騎車 khah 緊 leh,看會 thang tńg來赴晝 boē?」
伊ê 車 tú-á beh騎出去,羅執事也tú-好騎車入來。
「羅執事平安。」
「平安,先生娘平安,」
「平安,請入來坐。」Siok-cheng ná講ná giâ 椅,三個人攏入來坐人客廳。
「真恭喜,感謝主賞賜你koh得著一個公子,我tú-tú be來去kā你拜訪。Taⁿ執事娘 kap嬰á攏平安好?」
「是lah,大概koh兩月日。」
「害 lah,咱教會ê經濟ná來ná bái, 這月日kā你拖過chiah久,實在真歹勢; 是因為khêng無夠thang hō͘你,去對會友ê厝kā in 募款, chiah 慢到今á日。」
「Boē lah, 你 hiah-nih無閒,koh hō͘你著磨,真多謝。」羅執事對紙袋-á piàⁿ出一堆 ê錢,有10 箍--ê 5 箍--ê,一箍--ê, 5 角--ê,也有兩角,一角--ê。
「來,咱來鬥算,chiah ê是定期獻金,禮拜獻金,也對主日學hit 旁借來相添, khêng-khêng leh tú-á好。」
「Ah! chiah濟錢,媽媽,咱有thang 買菜 lah.」忽然Sèng-it大聲hoah出來,hō͘ Tiong-iông, Siok-cheng ê面攏紅--起來。
「這月日ê 米,一斤是3 箍半, 4 個人160斤, tú-好是560 箍,合本奉550 箍,攏總是1110 箍,你算看有無?」
「m̄免,真多謝。」Tiong-iông 接 hiah ê錢就隨時對 10 箍--ê the̍h 10 張起來,講:「羅執事,這月日ê十份一奉獻,我續hō͘你,真失禮到現在chiah the̍h hō͘你。」然後將hiah ê錢交hō͘ Siok-cheng。
「Ah!好!好!án-ni真tú-好,chiah ê錢thang the̍h來去la̍p本月份 ê 電費, kā人欠幾-nā日,hō͘人來催幾-nā擺。」忽然羅執事ê面變嚴肅起來,親像有話 beh講:m̄敢開嘴,感覺真歹勢ê 款式,真久chiah講。
「林先生,有一項代誌真歹勢講:m̄-kú是受著長執 ê交代,無講也boē用得。」
「無要緊,只要做會得到,我願接受恁 ê意見,請你講。」
「羅執事我先失禮,我著來去買菜,請你hia坐。」Siok-cheng 對椅-á peh起來。
「好!好!請你無閒。」羅執事tàm-頭了後chiah ǹgTiong-iông講:
「Cha 昏真暗,阮幾-nā ê長執 tī Bo̍k 長老 ê 厝參詳教會經濟ê 問題, in攏感覺著教會經濟chiah困難,m̄知你會thang將「辦公費」 hit 條 ê 支出想辦法khah 節省 leh boē?」
「這個意思是按怎,我無甚麼明白。」
「譬喻來講::宿舍內面ê用電,親像煮飯用電鍋;熱天用電風,暗時ê 燈點真暗,chiah ê看會 thang khah 省 á boē?」
Tiong-iông知影這個意思,若是伊恬恬攏無應, 羅執事koh繼續講:
「In也講:親像一般ê報紙,抑是教會ê XX報, chiah ê咱ê會友攏有人訂閱, chiah麻煩你去in厝看; kan-ta教會公報kap 榮光報就好,因為這兩個刊物是咱長老教會無boē用得ê;若án-ni,一年會 thang 省幾-nā 百箍, m̄知你ê意見按怎?」
忽然內面ê空氣真安靜,真久Tiong-iông chiah真細聲應答。
「暗時ê燈點真暗,是我ê桌頂hit 支 10 w ê日光燈nā-tiāⁿ……我m̄知be 按怎。既然做一個上帝ê奴僕,boē-thang享受我所有ê權利,我也m̄敢加講甚麼。不過恁應該知影,hō͘一個傳教者 boē-thang趕著時代,hit ê喪失m̄-nā伊本身nā-tiāⁿ, 整個教會ê喪失koh-khah大。」這時Tiong-iông真激動, ná來ná大聲,直直講。
「我bat 聽著某長執親身對我講,近來ê先生,牧師是teh傳道, m̄是teh傳道;看伊內面ê 電器設備,穿插……若kap兩千年前ê主耶穌,行洗禮約翰,抑是保羅in比較起來,實在差天到地。 M̄-kú無幾日後這個長執koh看著一個傳道先生穿 kah真簡單,伊mā講:做kah一個傳道,無sêng一個先生扮,伊講道理mā無人 beh聽。你想,beh叫先生是做時代ê 落伍者抑是前鋒?」
這時咱teh 高唱「福音不變,,時代teh變,傳道著變」 ê時代。咱ê長執是ài 我khiā tī甚麼立場?會記得我赴任 ê時,ài 恁 chhoā我來去kap地方ê 各機關首長熟識; 恁講教會m̄-thang kap世間chham-chhap,後來我家己去chhē in, in 逐個to真歡迎我傳福音hō͘ in 聽。我beh請in來講演; 恁講m̄免聽hit款屬事。我beh 招恁出來佈道,恁講事先hō͘教會khah熱心就好。前擺我beh請咱鄉 ê衛生所產婆來對女宣講演家庭「節育」問題, hō͘ hiah ê老人大大反對,講我無信仰。我beh 開幼稚園(幼稚園); 恁批評我ài beh hō͘先生娘做保母 加趁錢。我beh 開補習班,義務教學生; 恁講我是teh 展膨風, ài名聲,有ê講我是teh做變相 ê 惡性補習趁錢。我講咱教會著關心社會服務社會恁講我teh傳社會福音。我tī講道強調信徒應該著用「疼kap服務來建設上帝國tī 地 ná親像tī 天裡; 恁講我teh講新神學,攏無屬靈ê生活……我m̄知beh 按怎做?」講到chia 伊吐一個氣。
「林先生,請你m̄-thang誤會我; tú-chiah ê話,是我khah 雞婆 kā你轉達 ê, m̄-是我ê意思。」
「我知影,真失禮;請原諒我ê激動。」Siok-cheng tú-á 買菜tńg來,已經11點lah.
「亦無,我khah 失禮,時間無早,著 tńg來去,」羅執事對椅-á peh起來,相辭就tńg去。

hit-ê-晝食飯,兩個囝看著桌頂有肉,真歡喜,細漢ê Sèng-it 拍 pho̍k-á講:
「下晝我beh感謝。」四個人目睭khoeh-khoeh。
「感謝天父,賞賜米糧,koh有肉hō͘阮食, 靠耶穌ê名。A-men。」
兩個囝兒ná親像監囚,食kah真歡喜;若是Tiong-iông 捧hit碗飯起來,看著 Siok-cheng ê腹肚,油然目屎流出來,兩個囡仔攏莫名其妙,四蕊目睭直直kā 伊siòng,大漢ê Kèng-it kā老母講:
「媽媽,你kā 爸爸分siuⁿ少物配 teh哮-à lah.,」hit時Siok-cheng ê目屎也流出來,若是嘴soà ài-笑。
hit-ê-晝無食飯,Tiong-iông騎一點外鐘ê 車來到市內chhē 伊最好ê老師,最會幫贊伊ê李Khí-bêng牧師,見著面開嘴就講:
「李牧師,我無法度thang koh忍受tī 這間教會做工;我決定beh 申請調動。」
「好,真好,請你講:若有一項事比主耶穌所受著 ê khah大,我願意kā你幫忙。」
「你ê意思是無歡喜我換位。」
「會 thang án-ni講。」你牧師tìm-頭,「因為有真濟ê 同學攏親像你來án-ni 對我要求過,若是in承受我ê苦勸,攏koh 倒-tńg去in ê 職位。」
「M̄-kú我相信,我若講hō͘你聽了後,你穩當boē 阻擋我ê要求。」
「請你講看覓。」
Tiong-iông就用激動koh 憤慨 ê話對李牧師直直講:若親像一個受冤屈ê人對 法官 teh分訴一樣,伊按算坐tī面前ê老師會 kap 伊相kap 憤慨;若是李牧師聽了不但無動容,反tńg 哈哈大笑講:
「你iáu 比張Ta̍t-în 同學khah thang感謝,伊 hō͘眾會友beh 趕出去,koh 幾-nā月日ê 薪津無thang hō͘ 伊 lah.」
比上不足,比下有餘(比上不足,比下有餘)。Tiong-iông 家己感覺,án-ni我iáu thang感謝,心chiah淡薄安慰,m̄-kú伊ê心內iáu充滿真濟疑問, 對你牧師講:
「為甚麼做一個工人著 án-ni受苦?為甚麼信徒boē-thang體諒咱kap 咱同心復興教會?為甚麼咱boē-thang享受著時代ê權利?為甚麼咱ê家庭boē-thang kap in平等ê 待遇,為甚麼……」
「請你m̄-thang直直講為甚麼。」你牧師斬斷伊ê為甚麼接來講:”Boē用得問上帝,」
為甚麼著對上帝問講:「我著做甚麼?」抑是講:「你kā我下 tī chia是ài我做甚麼?」
Tiong-iông hō͘李牧師講án-ni,刺鑿伊ê心,soà感覺真見笑,李牧師也無細膩繼續講:
「Tiong-iông 君,今á日鄉村教會ê境遇,我非常ê了解kap同情,特別是chiah ê同工,不過我有3點ê建議講hō͘你做參考,請你chiah詳細想看覓。」
1)做一個青年ê傳教者,著事先自覺 chiah ê代誌是一定會 pōng-著 ê 刺-phè. m̄免講到聖經中hiah ê先知,使徒,特別是主耶穌,就是咱現在chiah ê大牧師諸先輩, in ê成功攏是tī 這款ê火燄中忍受成功ê.總是近來ê工人ná親像對這款ê苦難看做boē慣勢,無應該。我jim-uî jú有這款ê苦難jú 會 thang顯明上帝對你ê器重。所謂「悲哀 ê所在就是聖ê地。」你也知影世界出名ê聖歌:
我所是5苦難,無人知影,
————榮耀Ha-le-lú-iah:
是chiah ê烏人tiàm tī 這款痛苦ê悲哀所唱出勝利ê音樂,所以請你m̄-thang抵抗問題。
2) 教會boē進步,信徒boē-thang了解,經濟ê困難,這是今á日鄉村教會必然 ê 現象,所以m̄免過頭傷心,只要 tī上帝ê 面前真本份去做就好。咱應該著用同情 ê眼光chhè出原因了解in chiah tio̍h。事實上chiah ê信徒 ê信心抑是奉獻,攏無khah 輸 tī初代ê信徒,不過是心有餘 力不足(心餘力拙)nā-tiāⁿ。我看in真濟信徒ê經濟hiah-nih困難,甚至無thang食,無thang穿,若是看in一年ê奉獻ê數字非常ê 驚人,夠額hō͘城市ê信徒見笑,hō͘我非常ê感激,所以咱著有份tī in ê艱苦,也是應該ê。
3)最要緊ê 一項: m̄-thang逃避sù-beng,絕對m̄-thang為著 chiah ê困難來想beh tiāu-tōng, án-ni是顯明咱是聖工上 ê 敗北者(敗北者)。咱teh 鼓舞咱ê信徒 tī 這個時代著學主ê款式; 「對天來到罪惡ê世界做伊拯救人,疼人ê 工,甚至將這支殘忍可怕ê十字架變成榮光燦爛ê記號,所以著 tī一個烏暗ê世間做光,做鹽ê使命。」事實這個責任tú-á是咱tiàm tī鄉村教會上帝所hō͘咱傳教者今日ê 課題。 Beh 按怎重新經營這間教會回復親像以前hiah-nih燦爛ê歷史?Beh 按怎矯正(矯正)信徒ê 舊觀念,相kap tī 新時代同負起主ê國?這chiah是今á日咱著想,著做ê 問題。當然問題 m̄是hiah-nih簡單,也m̄是一時就會thang成功ê,若是這個時代tú-tú是舊 ê beh過去,新 ê teh beh來ê真空狀態(真空狀態)下,正是咱做工ê好機會,咱若會thang突破目前ê 難關, 排 tī面前 ê是勝利kap成功lah。我ê話你聽了會了解boē?
Tiong-iông無應,直直tàm-頭,面露出笑容,thang知伊一片憂鬱,僥疑ê心已經 hō͘牧師ê話衝破。
「牧師,若是án-ni, 目前最要緊ê工作是甚麼?」
「現在最要緊ê工作有兩項: 第1, 對外應該想出妙法「傳道,」tú-tú照理所teh做ê繼續去做,m̄-thang厭倦。第 2,對內,「教育,」信徒ê誤解kap 成見攏是缺乏教育ê原因。」
「M̄-kú 排 tī面前ê生活問題 boē-thang解決,beh叫人按怎忍受?」
「是,這是最大ê 問題,我teh想應該對 3 方面來解決: 第 1,中會應該關心。第 2, 都市教會也請伸出幫贊ê手來。第 3,出外 ê會友應該tī經濟tńg來援助母會 chiah tio̍h.」
「這是真好ê方法,m̄知in願意過來幫贊阮無?」
「我會盡所會 ê來呼籲這個工作。」
「多謝牧師ê指示,taⁿ我無beh逃避主ê 使命,願giâ 這隻十字架,lim 這個苦杯來負起時代ê責任。請牧師常常替我祈禱。」
日頭已經落山,厝內ê電火to̍h起來。暗頓hō͘李牧師請了後,伊就隨時離別牧師。

外面雖然暗,路雖然遠,若是伊騎hit 張破舊 ê 自轉車,充滿著未bat有ê歡喜kap ǹg望,直直ǹg厝teh騎,攏無感覺驚-hiâⁿ。伊ê 腳ná teh踏,嘴ná念伊平時所愛念ê一節詩:
Tī 憂鬱風涼ê樹林內,
無燦爛ê日光teh照;
悽凊ê 烏影歸日teh罩-oá,
性命活潑 ê記號無人看著。

肅靜ê路邊,生出一蕊嬌軟ê花蕊;
伊m̄驚歹 ê 環境包圍身邊
伊盡所會chhèng出芬芳ê芳味,
也展開美麗ê 顏色;
Hō͘ 過路厭倦ê旅客,
得著溫暖in心靈;
也放輕 in沉重ê腳步。
腳 ná踏ná 緊, 伊 koh想起Dant ê神曲(神曲)開頭ê一句話:
Tī我人生ê旅行中,
Tī 這個烏暗ê樹林內;
我chhē 著我家己。
不知不覺 ê 中間到厝 lah,厝內ê電火to̍h真光;聽見Siok-cheng teh彈琴教兩個囝唱歌。伊 khiā tī門口,恬恬聽到唱了,chiah用伊ê手拍 pho̍k-á出聲講:
「真gâu唱,真好聽。」
