Tī Tō͘-kun-eng keh-piah ê chng-siā nih, bat kuí-nā nî-kú chi̍t keng pài-tn̂g tī-hia. Goân-té hit keng sī pún-tē lâng teh lé-pài, khiok ia̍h ū tām-po̍h kheh-lâng lâi chham-ka. Í-āu ū chi̍t nî, Tō͘-kun-eng ê chng-siā hō͘ toā-chuí lâu-khì, hit keng pài-tn̂g soà hoè-khì. Lé-pài chiū hun-khui, pún-tē lâng hit pêng chiong in ê pài-tn̂g siat tī Tiong-nâ; kheh-lâng chit pêng ko͘-put-chiong ia̍h tio̍h koh chhoē chi̍t uī sin tē-tiám. uī-tio̍h beh ài chi̍t uī pài-tn̂g tē, in keng-koè chin choē ê kan-lân, in-uī kheh-chng kóng thong hô, m̄-chún in tiong-kan chi̍t lâng chiong tē boē lán chò pài-tn̂g ê lō͘-ēng. In tah kò-sī, bêng-bêng kóng, nā chún lâng tī hia khí kàu-tn̂g, chiū-sī Goā-kok beh lâi thóng-tī ê chiân-tiāu, ū guî-hiám sèng tī-teh. Ū chi̍t lâng táⁿ-sǹg beh tē boē lán, uī-tio̍h án-ni soà bô sêng, chîⁿ koh hêng lán. Hit-sî ū chi̍t uī sìn-tô͘, kiò-chò Tiuⁿ A-kim, sī Jī-lūn ê lâng, chiong i ê chhù boē lán chò pài-tn̂g. Tī 1885 nî ê 6 ge̍h tiong, ū kuí-nā uī hiaⁿ-tī tī hit keng chhù chò lé-pài, siū-tio̍h hit chng ê lâng chin kek-lia̍t ê pháiⁿ khoán-thāi. In chhe lâng lâi hú-siâⁿ chiong sū-chêng pò goán chai, goá chiū siū-phài lo̍h-khì hia, khoàⁿ tāi-chì tio̍h án-choáⁿ pān. Goá tī 6 goe̍h 18 ji̍t (lé-pài la̍k) kàu hit só͘-chāi, hit-mê-hng, kap in ê lāu-toā (chng-ni̍h ê thâu-lâng) siong-hoē nn̄g pái. In kóng, “Lín lâi chia bé tē khí pài-tn̂g che lín ū koân, goán boē-tit thang tòng lín, m̄-kú lín nā tī-chia lé-pài, kiaⁿ-liáu chia ê chheng-liân-poè oē khí-lâi hoán-tuì, ē ēng kiông-pō͘ ê chhiú-toāⁿ lâi khí pō͘-tāng, che sī goán bô hoat-tō͘ thang chó͘-chí--ê, in-uī in chin hoán-tuì lín ê kàu-hoē.” Sui-jiân sī án-ni, goán koat-sim beh tī hia chìn-hêng lé-pài. Keh-tńg-ji̍t (lé-pài-ji̍t chá-khí) ū jī, saⁿ cha̍p miâ ê hiaⁿ-tī lâi hia kap goá saⁿ-kap lé-pài, tng goán iáu teh chū-chi̍p ê sî, ū thiaⁿ-kìⁿ kòng-lô ê siaⁿ, ia̍h ū lâng khui-siaⁿ kóng, in lâi lah! Goán chū-chi̍p ê chhù sè-á-keng, goā-bīn khoan-khoah, bô jia bô cha̍h, goán khoàⁿ-kìⁿ in ji̍p lâi kàu tiâⁿ-ni̍h lah! (Hit ê chêng-hêng goá sī kiàn-siàu kàu m̄-káⁿ siá chhut-lâi). Hiah ê lâng taⁿ kuí-nā tàⁿ toā chho͘, chiū-sī tuì chng-lāi ê chhè-tî hia taⁿ lâi--ê. Goán chek-sî chiong mn̂g koaiⁿ khí-lâi, lâng thè ji̍p āu-kak, nā sī mn̂g liâm-piⁿ hō͘ in ēng chio̍h-thâu hám chhuì, chiū chiong toā-chho͘ ti̍t-ti̍t phoah ji̍p-lâi, phoah kàu kui keng chhù moá-moá sī, goán ta̍k lâng lóng chiâu-chiâu phoah tio̍h. Goá chiū kiâⁿ chìn-chêng chhut-lâi, siūⁿ beh kā in kóng oē, nā-sī in m̄-thiaⁿ, chiong toā-chho͘ tuì goá ti̍t-lâm ti̍t-phoah, tuì thâu-khak téng kàu kha-té, kui seng-khu ù-oè moá-moá.

Goá liâm-piⁿ kám-kak chi̍t hāng, goá siūⁿ kóng in tek-khak ū giâm-giâm siū chí-sī, ún-tàng m̄-káⁿ sui-piān hē-chhiú hāi goā-kok lâng, chiū khiā tiāⁿ-tiāⁿ, chhut-chāi in só͘ ài khì chò. In hit khoán ê só͘ chò, ū hō͘ tī-hia teh khoàⁿ ê lâng ke-thiⁿ sóng-khoài, chóng-sī chāi goá pún-sin mā-sī ū lī-ek ê só͘-chāi.

Khún-tio̍k goán ê lâng ū ê ná béng-lia̍t, in tuì hiah ê bô tí-khòng ê sìn-tô͘, chhiu-chhàng ba̍k-kàng, khiú in ê thâu-chang, chhoah in ê chhuì-chhiu, thiah-li̍h in ê i-chiûⁿ, phah in kàu thiám-thiám, goá khoàⁿ in ê ka-chiah-phiaⁿ, o͘-chhiⁿ chéng, siong-hûn moá-moá. Goá ū chīn só͘ ē beh khì noâ-cha̍h hiah ê lâng, nā-sī bô hāu, oa̍t-jú ke-thiⁿ in ê siū-khì. In mē goá, chiù-chó͘ goá, kah ná chhin-chhiūⁿ hoat-kông chi̍t-iūⁿ. Ū ê gia̍h kún[kùn]-á beh oá lâi phah goá, in tiong-kan ū khah sīn-tiōng--ê, tuì chhiú kā i la̍k teh, chiah bô oá-lâi. In te̍k-pia̍t chhiau-chhē hit keng chhù ê chú-lâng, lòng phoà-piah, ta̍k keng pâng chhē thàu-thàu, hó kai-chài, hit ji̍t i chhut-goā, nā ū tī-teh kiám-chhái sit-lo̍h sìⁿ-miā. (āu-hō soà-chiap).

佇杜君英隔壁的庄社--裡,捌幾若年久一間拜堂佇遐。原底彼間是本地人teh禮拜,卻亦有淡薄客人來參加。以後有一年,杜君英的庄社予水流--去,彼間拜堂紲廢棄。禮拜就分開,本地人彼爿將in的拜堂設佇中林;客人這爿姑不將亦著閣揣一位新地點。為著欲愛一位拜堂地,in經過真濟的艱難,因為客庄講通和,毋准in中間一人將地賣咱做拜堂的路用。In貼告示,明明講:「若準人佇遐起教堂,就是外國欲來統治的前兆,有危險性佇-leh。」有一人打算欲地賣咱,為著按呢煞無成,錢閣還--咱。彼時有一位信徒,叫做張阿金,是二崙的人,將伊的厝賣咱做拜堂。佇1885年的6月中,有幾若位兄弟佇彼間厝做禮拜,受著彼庄的人真激烈的歹款待。In差人來府城將事情報阮知,我就受派落去遐,看代誌著按怎辦。我佇6月18日(禮拜六)到彼所在,彼暝昏,佮in的老大(庄--裡个頭人)相會兩擺。In講:「恁來遮買地起拜堂這恁有權,阮袂得通擋--恁,毋過恁若佇遮禮拜,驚了遮的青年輩會起來反對,會用強暴的手段來起暴動,這是阮無法度通阻止--的,因為in真反對恁的教會。」雖然是按呢,阮決心欲佇遐進行禮拜。隔轉日(禮拜日早起)有二、三十名的兄弟來遐佮我相佮禮拜,當阮猶teh聚集的時,有聽見摃鑼的聲,亦有人開聲講:「In來--lah!」阮聚集的厝細仔間,外面寬闊,無遮無閘,阮看見in入來到埕--裡--lah!(彼的情形我是見笑到毋敢寫出來。)遐的人擔幾若擔大粗,就是對庄內的廁池遐擔--來--的。阮即時將門關--起-來,人退入後角,但是門連鞭予in用石頭hám碎,就將大粗直直潑--入-來,潑到歸間厝滿滿是,阮逐人攏齊齊潑--著。我就行進前--出-來,想欲共in講話,但是in毋聽,將大粗對我直淋直潑,對頭殼頂到跤底,歸身軀污穢滿滿。

我連鞭感覺一項,我想講in的確有嚴嚴受指示,穩當毋敢隨便下手害外國人,就徛定定,出在in所愛去做。In彼款的所做,有予佇遐teh看的人加添爽快,總--是在我本身嘛是有利益的所在。

窘逐阮的人有的ná猛烈,in對遐的無抵抗的信徒,鬚聳目kàng,揪in的頭鬃,chhoah in的喙鬚,拆裂in的衣裳,扑in到悿悿,我看in的ka-chiah-phiaⁿ烏青腫,傷痕滿滿。我有盡所會欲去攔閘遐的人,但是無效,越愈加添in的受氣。In罵我,咒詛我,kah-ná親像發狂一樣。有--的攑棍仔欲倚來扑我,in中間有較慎重--的,對手共伊la̍k--leh,才無倚--來。In特別抄揣彼間厝的主人,撞破壁,逐間房揣透透,好佳哉,彼日伊出外,若有佇leh撿彩失落生命。
