Ū chi̍t téng-hō ê lâng siông-siông chhut-goā beh khoàⁿ goā-kok ê kong-kéng, ia̍h pún-kok ê kong-kéng bô sím-mi̍h bat khoàⁿ. Ū chi̍t téng-hō ê lâng ta̍uh-ta̍uh tī kok-lāi sì-koè kiâⁿ chhit-thô, ia̍h hán-tit tńg--lâi kap pún só͘-tsāi ê lâng poâⁿ-noá. Ū chi̍t téng-hō ê lâng kap pún tsng ê lâng chin se̍k-sāi, ia̍h kap pún-sin lóng m̄ sio-bat. án-tsáiⁿ-iūⁿ kap pún-sin m̄ sio-bat? Siat-sú lán nā mn̄g i kóng, “Bó͘ lâng sī tsoè sím-mi̍h khoán?” I oē hiáu-tit thang kā lán kóng-bêng tsng--ni̍h suî-lâng ê khoán-sit, koh oē hiáu--tit thang hun-piat suî lâng ê sèng-chêng, chiū-sī kóng, I khah khuí-khiat, ia̍h i khah láu-si̍t, koh i khah sò-sèng, ia̍h i khah pîn-toāⁿ, i khah ko͘-ta̍k, ia̍h i khah ài koán-thàu, i khah khiáu, ia̍h i khah ham-bān, hit-ê lâng chin kiau, ia̍h hit-ê chin kiaⁿ, lún-neh, lún-neh.
Lán nā káⁿ koh mn̄g i kóng, Lí pún-sin sī sím-mi̍h hō ê lâng, kiaⁿ-liáu i bô sím-mi̍h ài kóng; á-sī kóng, sī kóng khiam-pi ê oē; kî-si̍t i sim-lāi teh siūⁿ pún-sin khah gâu, khah oē (“cha-po͘ m̄-jīn gōn, cha-bó͘, m̄-jīn bái”), koh siūⁿ pún-sin khah kó͘-ì, khah pîn-sim, khah hó kau-poê, khah gâu chò lâng, khah hó-sim.
Taⁿ lán nā khì mn̄g pa̍t lâng, kóng, “Lín chng--ni̍h ū chi̍t lâng miâ kiò chò bó͘-bó͘; goá thiaⁿ lâng kóng i khah gâu, khah ē, khah kó͘-ì, khah pîn-sim, khah hó kau-poê, khah gâu chò lâng, khah hó-sim”; chng--ni̍h ê lâng beh ìn, kóng, “Bô; beh thài ū? khiok ū chi̍t-ê kiò-chò ‘Bó͘-bó͘’ ; m̄-kú i m̄-sī hit-hō lâng, kî-si̍t i khah ham-bān, khah kan-hiông, khah pháiⁿ-sim”.
Taⁿ lán thang siūⁿ khoàⁿ sī chhù-piⁿ khah m̄ bat hit-ê lâng, á-sī i khah m̄ bat pún-sin; káⁿ sī i khah m̄ bat pún-sin.
Chin chē lâng m̄ bat pún-sin, khoàⁿ ka-tī sī gâu, si̍t-chāi i sī gōng, khoàⁿ ka-tī sī hó, si̍t-chāi sī pháiⁿ.
Liân kaⁿ-lô-lāi hiah-ê hoān-lâng ia̍h ū teh lia̍h ka-tī chò hó-lâng. Kó͘-chá ū chi̍t-ê kok-ông khì thàm hoān-lâng, mn̄g ta̍k-ê kóng, “Lí siáⁿ-sū hō͘ koaⁿ-hú koaiⁿ?” Chi̍t-ê kóng, “Goá to m̄ bat àn-choáⁿ; goá hō͘ lâng bû-kò”. Koh chi̍t-ê kóng, “Choē si̍t-chāi m̄-sī goá ê, goá hō͘ pa̍t lâng liân-luī’. Koh chi̍t-ê kóng, “Goá iáu-boē hō͘ koaⁿ-hú sím-mn̄g; nā sím-nn̄g liáu, chiū ún-tàng bô choē”. Mn̄g chin-chē; ta̍k-ê sī án-ni ka-tī hun-sò͘. Kàu boé chiū koh mn̄g chi̍t-ê. I kóng ‘Chin kiàn-siàu; goá ê choē kài tāng, si̍t-chāi ē kham-tit siū hêng-hoa̍t”. Kok-ông chhiò-chhiò, kóng, “Chit lāi-té lóng sī hó-lâng liáu-liáu, chí-ū lí chi̍t-lâng sī pháiⁿ-lâng. Goá siūⁿ chí-ū lí chi̍t-lâng sī pháiⁿ-lâng. Goá siūⁿ lí toà chia sī khah m̄ hó, kiaⁿ-liáu lí ē oè--tio̍h in”, chiū chek-sî kā i pàng chhut-kaⁿ. Hit-ê lâng, in-uī bat ka-tī, só͘-í khah ē thang ǹg-bāng i ē ké-oāⁿ.
Taⁿ m̄-bat ka-tī ū sím-mi̍h koan-hē? M̄-bat ka-tī sī chin guî-hiám. Sī ná chhin-chhiūⁿ lâng tio̍h tāng-pīⁿ, iáu-kú lia̍h chò sī sió-khoá. Pêng-iú kā i kóng, Lí khah pháiⁿ bīn-sek, tio̍h chhoē sin-siⁿ, chia̍h io̍h; i iû-goân lia̍h chò bô iàu-kín, m̄-bián chia̍h io̍h; hit-ê lâng chū-jiân chin guî-hiám. Lán nā m̄ bat ka-tī, lia̍h ka-tī chò bô choē ê lâng, si̍t-chāi sī ū choē ê lâng; lia̍h chò sī khin choē ê lâng, si̍t-chāi sī tāng-choē ê lâng; lia̍h chò m̄ bián kiaⁿ, si̍t-chāi tio̍h chin kiaⁿ; án-ni kám m̄-sī chin guî-hiám, ia̍h m̄-chāi thang tî-hông guî-hiám?
Lâng nā chai ka-tī ê m̄-tio̍h, lâ-sâm, chiū ún-tàng ài beh hō͘ Iâ-so͘ sé. Sī ná chhin-chhiūⁿ ìn-tō͘-kok ū chi̍t-lâng, it-seng m̄-bat sé seng-khu, ia̍h m̄-bat sé bīn, tú-tio̍h phoà-pīⁿ chiū lâi i-koán; sian-siⁿ kā i kóng, Lí tio̍h tāi-seng sé, chiū thang tiàm tī chit lāi-té. Hit-ê lâng thiaⁿ-liáu tiām-tiām chò i khì. Khah thêng-á sian-siⁿ khoàⁿ i teh chē tī gîm-kîⁿ-kha, chiū kā i kóng, Lí tio̍h khì sé, chiah koh lâi. Koh thêng chi̍t-ē, chiū sian-siⁿ lâi khoàⁿ, kan-khó͘ lâng iû-goân tiàm tī hia teh chē. Beh teng-lêng kiò i khì sé, bô chhái-chhuì; só͘-í kan-ta chhoā I khì chiò bīn-kiàⁿ. Kan-khó͘ lâng chiò-liáu chek-sî khì sé.
Tō-lí chhin-chhiūⁿ bīn-kiàⁿ; m̄-bat tō-lí chiū m̄-chai ka-tī ê sim siⁿ chò sím-mi̍h khoán; nā bat tō-lí chiū chai ka-tī ê khiàm-khoeh. Chai ka-tī ê khiàm-khoeh ū sím-mi̍h lō͘-ēng。 Si̍t-chāi chin toā lō͘-ēng. Sī ná chhin-chhiūⁿ lâng tuì sè-hàn tu-tu phoà-pīⁿ, phoà-pīⁿ kàu m̄ chai pīⁿ ê kan-khó͘; kàu chi̍t-chūn í-keng hó, chiū chai cheng-chha chin-chē. Pīⁿ-lâng thiaⁿ-liáu chiū siūⁿ kóng, Nā-sī án-ni goá káⁿ tio̍h o̍h lí ê iūⁿ lâi chia̍h lí só͘ chia̍h, hit-ê io̍h.
Lâng chhut-sì chhiⁿ-mî put-chi kan-khó͘. Beh thài ē chai? Lán nā kiò hit-ê lâng tio̍h khì hō͘ sian-siⁿ koah ba̍k-chiu, liōng-pit i bô sím-mi̍h ài; i beh kóng, Kiāⁿ-liáu chin thiàⁿ; ia̍h khoàⁿ beh chhòng sáⁿ-hoè? M̄--bián khoàⁿ iû-goân ē chò-tit. Só͘-í tio̍h lio̍h-á thiah-bêng hit-ê lí-khì, hō͘ i sió-khoá chai ba̍k-chiu kng ū sím-mi̍h hok-khì, ba̍k-chiu àm ū sím-mi̍h hāi. Taⁿ lán pún-chiâⁿ hán-tit siūⁿ kóng lán ū choē; sui-jiân lán tām-po̍h chai kóng, “Ta̍k-ê m̄-á ū choē”, iû-goân lia̍h-chò sī chū-jiân ê sū.
Che sī cháiⁿ-iūⁿ? Sī in-uī lán ū choē ia̍h pa̍t-lâng ia̍h ū choē, lán chiū lia̍h chò bô iàu-kín, hoán-tńg ū sî lia̍h chò hoaⁿ-hí ê sū. Thang pí-phēng Se-kok chi̍t só͘-chāi ê lâng chē-chē ū toā ām-kún, in nā khoàⁿ lâng ū pêng-siông ê ām-kún chiū hiâm pháiⁿ khoàⁿ. Lán ū-sî iû-goân án-ni, nā khoàⁿ chi̍t-lâng m̄-ài poa̍h-kiáu, m̄-ài pháiⁿ-chhuì, m̄-ài tham-sim, ài pài Siōng-tè, ài chò hó, chiū lóng bô o-ló hit-ê lâng, hoán-tńg hiâm i kóng, “Bó͘ lâng ji̍p hoan-á-kàu; m̄ hó.”
A-hui-lī-ka ê o͘-bīn-lâng lia̍h pa̍t-sek ê lâng chò chin pháiⁿ khoàⁿ; iáu-kú nā chhut-goā tiàm-tī goā-kok chiū tò-hoán-siūⁿ phoê hiah o͘, chhin-chhiūⁿ hoé-thoàⁿ, sī chin pháiⁿ-khoàⁿ. ia̍h lán tiàm tī sè-kan lia̍h o͘-sim chò khoa-kháu ê sū; gín-ná o̍h pháiⁿ-chhuì, sī-toā-lâng chiū o-ló chin khiáu; lâng phiàn pa̍t-lâng ē tit koè, chiū lia̍h ka-tī chin ū pún-sū; ū-sî siàu-liân lâng khì pháiⁿ-kiáⁿ-keng, á-sī kap lâng chia̍h ap-phiàn, lim-thîn kòng-phah, lia̍h chò chin ū thé-biān. Lán pa̍t-ji̍t nā lī-khui sè-kan tńg-khì, chiū ē chin kiàn-siàu, hoân-ló, éng-éng kiàn-siàu hoân-ló, kā-gê chhiat-chhí.
Nā-sī án-ni káⁿ tio̍h ki̍p-sî chim-chiok siūⁿ khoàⁿ lán ū iáⁿ sī hó-sim-lâng á m̄-sī, mn̄g khoàⁿ chò pháiⁿ ū iàu-kín á-bô.
Lâng teh sio hoé-thoàⁿ, á-sī teh ku̍t thô͘-thoàⁿ, á-sī teh kng thô͘-thoàⁿ lo̍h hoé-chûn, bīn kap saⁿ-á-khó͘ chin o͘; m̄-kú lí ia̍h o͘, goá ia̍h o͘, tāi-ke bô saⁿ-khì-hiâm; tú-tio̍h lán beh khì kàu ke-chhī ê só͘-chāi, á-sī beh kìⁿ-tio̍h koaⁿ-hú chiū siūⁿ, kóng, Lán ê bīn kap saⁿ chiah kiaⁿ-lâng, bē sái-tit khì kìⁿ koaⁿ-hú; bīn tio̍h sé, saⁿ tio̍h oāⁿ, chiàⁿ thang khì kìⁿ i.
Lâng toà tī Tiong-kok, Ji̍t-pún-kok, Eng-kok, Bí-kok, lia̍h choē chò sió-khoá; Goá ia̍h ū choē, lí ia̍h ū choē, tāi-ke bô saⁿ-khì-hiâm. Nā beh kap Siōng-tè saⁿ-kìⁿ lán beh sím-mi̍h pō͘? Só͘-í tio̍h kín-mé lâi hō͘ Iâ-so͘ sé, lâi hō͘ Iâ-so͘ kiù.

梅牧師記--ê
有一頂號ê人常常出外beh看外國ê光景,亦本國ê光景無甚麼bat看。有一頂號ê人ta̍uh-ta̍uh tī國內四界行chhit-thô,亦罕得tńg--來kap本所在 ê人盤-noá。有一頂號ê人kap本庄 ê人真熟似,亦kap本身攏m̄ sio-bat。 按怎樣kap本身m̄ sio-bat?設使咱若問伊講:「某人是做甚麼款?」伊會曉得thang kā咱講明庄裡隨人ê款式,koh會曉--得thang分別隨人ê性情,就是講:伊 khah詭譎,亦伊 khah老實,koh 伊 khah 躁性,亦伊 khah 貧憚, 伊 khah 孤-ta̍k,亦伊 khah 愛 koán-thàu,伊 khah 巧,亦伊 khah 憨慢, hit個人真嬌,亦hit個真驚,lún-neh,lún-neh。
咱若敢koh問伊講:你本身是甚麼號ê人,驚了伊無甚麼愛講; 抑是講:是講謙卑ê話;其實伊心內teh想本身khah gâu, khah 會 (「查甫m̄-認戇, 查某 m̄-認bái」),koh想本身khah 古意, khah 平心,khah好交陪,khah gâu 做人,khah好心。
Taⁿ咱若去問別人,講:「恁 庄裡有一人名叫做某某,我聽人講伊 khah gâu, khah 會, khah 古意, khah 平心,khah好交陪,khah gâu 做人,khah好心」; 庄裡 ê人beh 應,講:「無; beh thài有?卻有一個叫做 「某某」 ; m̄-kú 伊m̄是hit號人,其實伊 khah 憨慢, khah 奸雄, khah 歹心」。
Taⁿ咱thang想看是厝邊khah m̄ bat hit個人,抑是伊 khah m̄ bat本身;敢是伊 khah m̄ bat本身。
真濟人m̄ bat本身,看家治是gâu,實在伊是戇,看家治是好,實在是歹。
連監牢內hiah ê犯人亦有teh掠家治做好人。古早有一個國王去探犯人,問逐個講:「你啥事hō͘ 官府關?」一個講:「我to m̄ bat 按怎;我hō͘人誣告」。Koh一個講:「濟實在m̄-是我ê,我hō͘別人連累」。Koh一個講:「我iáu-boē hō͘官府審問;若審問了,就穩當無罪」。問真濟; 逐個是án-ni家治分訴。到尾就koh問一個。伊講「真見笑,我ê罪kài重,實在會堪得受刑罰」。國王笑笑,講:「這內底攏是好人了了,只有你一人是歹人。我想只有你一人是歹人。我想你toà chia是khah m̄好,驚了你會 oè--tio̍h in」,就即時kā 伊放出監。Hit個人,因為bat家治,所以khah 會 thang ǹg望伊會 ké-oāⁿ。
Taⁿ m̄-bat家治有甚麼關係?M̄-bat家治是真危險。是ná親像人著重病,iáu-kú掠做是小khoá。朋友kā伊講,你khah 歹面色,著 chhoē 先生,食藥; 伊猶原掠做無要緊,m̄免食藥; hit個人自然真危險。咱若m̄ bat家治,掠家治做無罪ê人,實在是有罪ê人;掠做是輕罪ê人,實在是重罪ê人;掠做 m̄免驚,實在著真驚; án-ni kám m̄-是真危險,亦m̄-chāi thang持防危險?
人若知家治ê m̄-tio̍h, lâ-sâm,就穩當ài beh hō͘耶穌洗。是ná親像印度國有一人,一生m̄-bat 洗身軀,亦m̄-bat 洗面,tú-著破病就來醫館;先生kā伊講,你著事先洗,就thang tiàm tī 這內底。Hit個人聽了恬恬做伊去。Khah thêng-á先生看伊 teh坐tī gîm-墘腳,就kā伊講,你著去洗, chiah koh來。Koh停一下,就先生來看,艱苦人猶原tiàm tī hia teh坐。Beh 2叮嚀叫伊去洗,無彩嘴,所以kan-ta chhoā 伊去照面鏡。艱苦人照了即時去洗。
道理親像面鏡; m̄-bat道理就m̄知家治ê心生做甚麼款;若bat道理就知家治ê欠缺。知家治ê欠缺有甚麼路用。實在真大路用。是ná親像人對細漢tu-tu 破病,破病到 m̄知病ê艱苦; 到一陣已經好,就知精差真濟。病人聽了就想講:若是án-ni我敢著學你ê樣來食你所食,hit個藥。
人出世青瞑 不止艱苦。Beh thài 會知?咱若叫hit個人著去hō͘先生割目睭,諒必伊無甚麼愛;伊beh講:驚了真疼;亦看beh chhòng 啥貨? M̄免看猶原會做得。所以著略-á拆明 hit個理氣,hō͘ 伊小khoá知目睭光有甚麼福氣,目睭暗有甚麼害。 Taⁿ咱本成罕得想講咱有罪;雖然咱淡薄知講:「逐個 m̄-á有罪」,猶原掠做是自然ê事。
這是怎樣?是因為咱有罪亦別人亦有罪,咱就掠做無要緊,反tńg有時掠做歡喜ê事。Thang比並西國一所在ê人濟濟有大頷頸,in若看人有平常ê頷頸就嫌歹看。咱有時猶原án-ni,若看一人m̄-ài 跋kiáu, m̄-ài 歹嘴,m̄-ài貪心,ài拜上帝,ài 做好,就攏無o-ló hit個人,反tńg嫌伊講:「某人入番仔教,m̄好。」
A-hui-lī-ka ê 烏面人掠別色 ê人做真歹看; iáu-kú若出外tiàm-tī外國就倒反想皮hiah 烏,親像火炭,是真歹看。亦咱tiàm tī世間掠烏心做誇口ê事; 囡仔學歹嘴,序大人就o-ló真巧;人騙別人會得過,就掠家治真有本事;有時少年人去歹囝間, 抑是kap人食鴉片, lim-thîn kòng-拍,掠做真有體面。咱別日若離開世間tńg去,就會真見笑,煩惱,永永見笑煩惱,咬牙切齒。
若是án-ni敢著及時斟酌想看咱有影是好心人抑 m̄是,問看做歹有要緊抑無。
人teh 燒火炭, 抑是teh 掘土炭,抑是teh kng土炭落貨船,面kap衫仔褲真烏; m̄-kú你亦烏,我亦烏,大家無相棄嫌; tú-著咱beh去到街市 ê所在,抑是beh見著官府就想,講:咱ê面kap相chiah驚人,bē 使得去見官府,面著洗,衫著換, 正 thang去見伊。
人toà tī中國,日本國,英國,美國,掠濟做小khoá;我亦有罪,你亦有罪,大家無相棄嫌。若 beh kap上帝相見咱beh甚麼步?所以著 緊-mé來hō͘耶穌洗,來hō͘耶穌救。
