Bí-lē chù-sîn ti̍t-ti̍t khoàⁿ i kóng, “Goá ta̍k-ji̍t siūⁿ beh lâi chiàu-kò͘ kū-iâ; m̄-kú láu-ma m̄ chún, chóng-sī goá chē-chē pái teh kî-tó, kiû Siōng-tè kiù kū-iâ ê pēⁿ hó-hó. Siōng-tè thiaⁿ goá, hoaⁿ-hí kin-á-ji̍t ē tit lâi, goá ū chi̍t pau beh hàu-kèng kū-iâ, chit-tia̍p lâi tháu-khui, thang á m̄-thang leh ?”

Guī ló-iâ sè-á-siaⁿ kóng, “Thang lah !” Bí-lē chiū chiong pau kin tháu-khui the̍h chhut chi̍t pak ê oē tô͘ hē tī jia hong téng, chhiáⁿ kū-iâ khoàⁿ. Guī ló-iâ chiū khoàⁿ-kìⁿ ū chi̍t ê pe̍h thâu-mn̂g ê lāu lâng, moá-bīn khoài-lo̍k, chiap-la̍p chi̍t ê phoà-saⁿ ê siàu-liân lâng. oē-tô͘ ē-té ū siá kuí jī kóng, Goá beh tò-lâi-khì chiū kīn lāu-pē kā i kóng, Goá tek-choē thiⁿ, kap tī lāu-pē ê bīn-chêng. Guī ló-iâ khoàⁿ-liáu chiū chai sī lōng-chú hoê-thâu ê oē-tô͘.

Bí-lē chhut-khì, Guī ló-iâ iáu-kú sī chù-ba̍k teh khoàⁿ hit pak oē, sim-lāi teh siūⁿ, Bí-lē khiok m̄ chai goá sī Siōng-tè ê lōng-chú. I uī-tio̍h sím-mi̍h the̍h chit pak lâi hō͘ goá; tàu-tí ná khoàⁿ ná ài. Siūⁿ Siōng-tè sī Thiⁿ-pē beh chiap-la̍p hoê-thâu ê lōng-chú. Goá án-choáⁿ m̄ hoê-thâu; koh siūⁿ goá kuí-nā nî uî-ke̍h Siōng-tè ê bēng-lēng, kiaⁿ-liáu I m̄ khéng chiap-la̍p goá. Koh siūⁿ hiān-sî pēⁿ ū khah hó bī-pit-jiân hiah kín-sí; kàu boé m̄-kú it-tēng tio̍h sí. Sí-āu tek-khak siū Siōng-tè ê sím-phoàⁿ, Thiⁿ-pē chit khoán thiàⁿ lâng; goá iū ko͘-hū I ê in-tián; m̄ chai eng-kai siū sím-mi̍h hêng-hoa̍t leh. Ji̍t koè ji̍t án-ni siūⁿ, sim-lāi bē tit an-jiân.

Koè kuí-ji̍t chiū mn̄g láu-ma khoàⁿ Bí ko͘-niû tī tah-lo̍h, chit kuí ji̍t lóng bô khoàⁿ-kìⁿ i. Láu-ma kóng, Goá kiaⁿ-liáu i lâi chak lí. I khiok ta̍k-ji̍t beh lâi goá m̄ chún i lâi. Ló-iâ nā ài khoàⁿ i, goá chiū lâi khì kiò i lâi. Bí-lē hoaⁿ-hoaⁿ-hí-hí chiū kàu, mn̄g kū-iâ ū pêng-an. Guī ló-iâ mn̄g i, Chit kuí ji̍t teh chhòng sím-mi̍h ? Bí-lē kóng, Goá chá-ji̍t khì Má pô-pô in tau khoàⁿ-kìⁿ chi̍t chiah thò͘-á koaiⁿ sí tī lam-á lāi. Hit ê sèⁿ Má-ê, kā goá kóng, sī sàn-hiong lâng chhòng lang-á beh khì lia̍h iá-ke; khó-sioh thò͘-á hō͘ i lia̍h--tio̍h. Sèⁿ Má ê chin siū-khì kóng, Chhiū-nâ chiū kū-iâ ê, êng lâng m̄-thang ji̍p; nā hō͘ i khoàⁿ-kìⁿ lâng tī-hia teh hē lang-á tiuⁿ-oa̍h-tauh, tek-khak beh lia̍h i lâi mn̄g choē. Goá sim-lāi siūⁿ, kiaⁿ-liáu sī To-má tò-tńg lâi, i ê lāu-pē khiok bē jīn tit, lia̍h chò thau lia̍h ke ê lâng; chiū bô beh chiap-la̍p i. Goá koh siūⁿ kui-ho̍k siōng-tè pí kui-ho̍k sè-kan ê lāu-pē sī hó-tit chē lah !

Guī ló-iâ mn̄g i kóng, án-choáⁿ-iūⁿ án-ni ! Bí-lē kóng, In-uī siōng-tè lóng bē jīn-chhò. Guī ló-iâ chiū kóng, Lâng kàu hiah kú lī-khui Siōng-tè kiaⁿ-liáu hoê-thâu sī khah tî lah, Siōng-tè m̄ khéng chiap-la̍p i. Bí-lē kóng, Beh thài-ē án-ni ? Siōng-tè sī thiàⁿ chèng-lâng, kan-ta ài in hoê-thâu, chiū beh sià-bián i lah ! Guī ló-iâ bô koh ìn-tap. Bí-lē chiū koh kóng, Chá ji̍t goá mn̄g Má pô-pô, To-má nā hoê lâi ū hó i-chiûⁿ thang hō͘ i chhēng bô ? I chiū chhoā goá chiūⁿ lâu-téng, chiong siuⁿ khui hō͘ goá khoàⁿ. Goá khoàⁿ siuⁿ-lāi ū khò͘, iā ū bé-koà, bō-á, ta̍k-hāng to lóng pī-pān hó-hó. I kóng, To-má thau-cháu hit ji̍t bô chiong chia ê mi̍h toà khì. Chit káu-nî ê tiong-kan i chiū kā i chiàu-kò͘. Ta̍k lé-pài ê pài-la̍k lóng the̍h chhut-lâi pha̍k ji̍t lah, kiû Siōng-tè kiù To-má khoài-khoài tńg-lâi.

Goá mn̄g ū chhiú-chí á bô; i kóng, Bô lah ! Guī ló-iâ mn̄g, “Siáⁿ-sū thài-tio̍h chhiú-chí.” Bí-lē kóng, “Kū-iâ lí bē kì-tit lōng-tōng-chú hoê-thâu, i lāu-pē chiong chhiú-chí koà i chéng-thâu-á mah ? Kū-iâ ū chi̍t-kha chhiú-chí thang hō͘ i á bô ?” Guī ló-iâ hó-chhiò kóng, “To-má sī chi̍t ê pîn-kiông ê lâng m̄-bián ēng chhiú-chí lah.” Bí-lē iu-thâu ba̍k-kat chhin-chhiūⁿ sit bāng ê khoán-sit. Guī ló-iâ khoàⁿ i ê bīn tài-iu-iông chiū kā i kóng, “Thèng-hāu i si̍t-chāi tńg-lâi chiah lâi the̍h.”

Bí-lē khoàⁿ i kuí-ji̍t chêng the̍h lâi sàng ê oē-tô͘ koà tī piah-téng, chiū mn̄g, “Kū-iâ sī hoaⁿ-hí hit pak oē-tô͘ bô, goá chi̍t-ē khoàⁿ-kìⁿ chiū khoài-lo̍k lah !” Guī ló-iâ mn̄g, “uī-tio̍h sím-mi̍h khoài-lo̍k ?” Bí-lē kóng, “Goá siūⁿ lōng-tōng-chú tò-lâi pún-ke kiám m̄ sī khoài-lo̍k ê sū ? Tuì hn̄g tau tò-lâi m̄ chai tī lō͘-ni̍h iân-chhiân loā-kú lah ? Siōng-tè ê lōng-chú hoê-thâu, kū-iâ lí-siūⁿ tio̍h loā-kú ê sî-hāu, chiah ē kui-ho̍k Siōng-tè.” Guī ló-iâ bān-bān kóng, “Chin kú lah.” Bí-lē iū-koh mn̄g, “Sī loā-kú leh, sī chi̍t poàⁿ-ji̍t, á-sī nn̄g ji̍t, á-sī nn̄g lé-pài mah ?” Guī ló-iâ kóng, “Kiaⁿ-liáu lī-khui chin hn̄g, hoê-thâu sī oh-tit lah.” Bí-lē kā i kóng, “Lâng án-choáⁿ lī-khui Siōng-tè, goá bat mn̄g láu-ma. Láu-ma kóng, Siōng-tè sī bô só͘ put-chāi, lóng-chóng bô lī-khui lâng; chóng-sī ū lâng chiong Siōng-tè pàng bē kì-tit; m̄-khéng kap I kau-poê hô-hó, in-uī i ài chò pháiⁿ-tāi. Mô͘-kuí chiū ji̍p I ê sim, só͘-í Siōng-tè bē tit thang tiàm i sim-lāi toà. Kū-iâ lí siūⁿ ū chit ê lâng á bô ?” Guī ló-iâ sè-á siaⁿ kóng, “Kiaⁿ-liáu ū tām-po̍h.” Bí-lē iū-koh mn̄g, “In nā jīn choē tī Siōng-tè, ài chò hó lâng, Siōng-tè chiū hoaⁿ-hí khoan-iông, sià-bián i, oán-jiân chhin-chhiūⁿ hit ê pē phō-tio̍h kiáⁿ ê ām-kún leh.” Guī ló-iâ kóng, “M̄-bián chē chhuì hō͘ goá thâu-khak hîn.” Bí-lē chiū khí-sin ûn-ûn-á khui mn̂g chiūⁿ lâu-téng khì lah.

美麗注神直直看伊講,「我逐日想beh來照顧舅爺,m̄-kú láu-ma m̄ 准,總是我濟濟擺teh祈禱,求上帝救舅爺ê病好好。上帝聽我,歡喜今仔日會得來,我有一包beh孝敬舅爺,這tia̍p來tháu開,thang抑m̄-thang leh ?」

魏老爺細仔聲講,「Thang lah !」美麗就將包巾tháu開提出一幅ê畫圖hē tī 遮風頂,請舅爺看。魏老爺就看見有一ê白頭毛ê老人,滿面快樂,接納一個破衫ê少年人。畫圖下底有寫幾字講,「我beh倒來去就近老父kā伊講,我得罪天,kap tī老父ê面前。魏老爺看了就知是浪子回頭ê畫圖。

美麗出去,魏老爺iáu-kú是注目teh看hit幅畫,心內teh想,美麗卻m̄ 知我是上帝ê浪子。伊為著甚物提這幅來hō͘ 我?到底那看那愛。想上帝是天父beh接納回頭ê浪子。我án-choáⁿ m̄回頭;koh想我幾若年違ke̍h上帝ê命令,驚了伊m̄肯接納我。Koh想現時病有較好未必然hiah緊死;到尾m̄-kú一定著死。死後的確受上帝ê 審判,天父這款疼人;我又辜負伊ê 恩典;m̄ 知應該受甚物刑罰leh。日過日án-ni想,心內bē得安然。

過幾日就問láu-ma 看美姑娘tī tah落,這幾日攏無看見伊。Láu-ma 講,我驚了伊來chak你。伊卻逐日beh來我m̄ 准伊來。老爺若愛看伊,我就來去叫伊來。美麗歡歡喜喜就到,問舅爺有平安。魏老爺問伊,這幾日teh創甚物?美麗講,我昨日去馬婆婆in兜看見一隻兔仔關死tī lam仔內。Hit個姓馬ê,kā我講,是散hiong人創籠仔beh去掠野雞;可惜兔仔hō͘ 伊掠--著。姓馬ê真受氣講,樹林就舅爺ê,閒人m̄-thang入;若hō͘ 伊看見人tī-hia teh 下籠仔tiuⁿ-oa̍h-tauh,的確beh掠伊來問罪。我心內想,驚了是多馬倒轉來,伊ê 老父卻bē認得,掠做偷掠雞ê人;就無beh接納伊。我koh想歸服上帝比歸服世間ê老父是好得濟lah !

魏老爺問伊講,án-choáⁿ 樣án-ni ?美麗講,因為上帝攏bē認錯。魏老爺就講,人到hiah久離開上帝驚了回頭是較遲lah,上帝m̄ 肯接納伊。美麗講,Beh thài會án-ni?上帝是疼眾人,kan-ta愛in回頭,就beh赦免伊lah!魏老爺無koh應答。美麗就koh講,昨日我問馬婆婆,多馬若回來有好衣裳thang hō͘ 伊穿無?伊就chhoā我上樓頂,將箱開hō͘ 我看。我看箱內有褲,也有馬褂,帽仔,逐項都攏備辦好好。伊講多馬偷走hit日無將chia ê物帶去。這9年ê中間伊就kā伊照顧。逐禮拜ê拜六攏提出來曝日lah,求上帝救多馬快快轉來。

我問有手指抑無;伊講,無lah!魏老爺問,「啥事thài著手指?」美麗講,「舅爺你bē記得浪蕩子回頭,伊老父將手指掛伊指頭仔mah?舅爺有一kha手指thang hō͘ 伊抑無?」魏老爺好笑講,「多馬是一個貧窮ê人m̄ 免用手指lah。」美麗憂頭目結親像失望ê款式。魏老爺看伊ê 面帶憂容就kā伊講,「聽候伊實在轉來才來提。」

美麗看伊幾日前提來送ê畫圖掛tī 壁頂,就問,「舅爺是歡喜hit幅畫圖無,我一下看見就快樂lah!」魏老爺問,「為著甚物快樂?」美麗講,「我想浪蕩子倒來本家kiám m̄ 是快樂ê事?對遠兜倒來m̄ 知tī 路ni̍h延chhiân 偌久lah?上帝ê浪子回頭,舅爺你想著偌久ê時候,才會歸服上帝。」魏老爺慢慢講,「真久lah。」美麗又koh問,「是偌久leh,是一半日,抑是兩日,抑是兩禮拜mah?」魏老爺講,「驚了離開真遠,回頭是oh-tit lah。」美麗kā伊講,「人án-choáⁿ 離開上帝,我bat問láu-ma。Láu-ma 講,上帝是無所不在,攏總無離開人;總是有人將上帝放bē記得;m̄ 肯kap伊交陪和好,因為伊愛做歹事。魔鬼就入伊ê 心,所以上帝bē得thang tiàm伊心內toà。舅爺你想有這個人抑無?」魏老爺細仔聲講,「驚了有淡薄。」美麗又koh問,「In若認罪tī 上帝,愛做好人,上帝就歡喜寬容,赦免伊,宛然親像hit個父抱著子ê頷頸leh。」魏老爺講,「M̄ 免濟嘴hō͘ 我頭殼暈。」美麗就起身勻勻仔開門上樓頂去lah。
