Goá chiū ìn i kóng, Nā lâu teh, āu-lâi tek-khak ū siong-hāi, lí pún-sin nā bô koh khì pài--i, chiū lí ê kiáⁿ-sun ia̍h oē khì pài--i. In-uī kàu kiáⁿ-sun ê sî, khoàⁿ-kìⁿ pa̍t lâng teh pài, koh khoàⁿ-kìⁿ ka-kī toh-téng ū bo̍k-chú, tek-khak ū-sî oē siū bê-he̍k, siūⁿ tio̍h chhin-chhiūⁿ pa̍t lâng lâi pài. ia̍h oē siūⁿ, nā pài káⁿ bô siong-hāi; nā oē siong-hāi, pē-kong sī ji̍p-kàu ê lâng, tek-khak bô lâu chit-ê mi̍h tī toh-téng. Sim chiū oē phah-sǹg tio̍h pài khah tio̍h; koh in-uī piān-piān tī toh-téng, m̄-sái ló͘-la̍t, chiū oē suî-sî khì pài--i. Chhin-chhiūⁿ án-ni āu-lâi ê poē-poān koh-khah siong-tiōng; só͘-í goá phah-sǹg tek-khak m̄-thang lâu teh; lâu teh,éng ū ē-kun. Chhin-chhiūⁿ chêng tī Ē-mn̂g ū chi̍t lâng ài lâi thàn tō-lí ji̍p kàu-hoē, iáu-kú thiaⁿ kàu-hoē kóng m̄-thang chhāi bo̍k-chú; i-ê sim bô bêng-pe̍k chit ê bo̍k-chú ê tō-lí, phah-sǹg bo̍k-chú í-keng hàu chiah kú, tek-khak ū sîn tī-teh, m̄-sī chhin-chhiūⁿ pêng-siông ê chhâ, só͘-í chiong kui-kham ê bo̍k-chú it-chīn koāⁿ-khì soaⁿ-téng tâi tī bōng-ni̍h. Che sī hián-bêng ū gî-ngái khiàn-sńg ê sim. Só͘-í koh bô joā-kú tú-tio̍h chhì-liān, chiū sī-soā cháu khì soaⁿ-téng, ku̍t hiah-ê bo̍k-chú koh tò-lâi pài, lâi ho̍k-sāi. āu-lâi lóng bô thang ǹg-bāng i koh lâi hoán-hoé; in-uī “Kng hut-jiân àm, hit ê àm sī toā.” Chhin-chhiūⁿ án-ni thang chai ē-kun tek-khak tio̍h tû hō͘ i lī, chiah boē koh hoat. Tio̍h siūⁿ kó͘-chá ê lâng siat bo̍k-chú, sī beh hō͘ lâng kì-liām, m̄-sī beh hō͘ lâng pài; iáu-kú āu-lâi lóng khì pài, khì ho̍k-sāi--i. Hô-hòng chit-sî ê bo̍k-chú, sè-sio̍k í-keng pún teh ho̍k-sāi kèng-pài; kiám m̄-sī koh khah khoài bê-he̍k āu-lâi ê lâng, lóng khì pài khì ho̍k-sāi i mah? Só͘-í tek-khak m̄-thang chhiáⁿ lâu teh. In chiū koh kóng, Nā-sī án-ni, bo̍k-chú chiū lóng hoè-bô mah? Bo̍k-chú nā lóng hoè-bô, siat-sú beh hàu tio̍h cháiⁿ-iūⁿ chiah oē hàu ah? Goá chiū ìn i kóng, Hàu tio̍h ēng chin hàu, m̄-thang ēng ké hàu. ài kiâⁿ chin hàu, tio̍h o̍h Sùn-tè kap Cheng-chú ê khoán-sit, chiū-sī chin hàu. Hoān-sū chiàu tō-lí, an-hūn siú-kí, sū lông kong siong jīn-chin khì choè; tì-kàu oē “iông-bêng-seng, hián-hū-bó”; che lóng sī chin hàu. Khó-sioh lâng khah choē bô chit-hō ê chin hàu, lóng-sī ài thàn hit-hō ké hàu ê hong-sio̍k; si̍t-chāi bô lī-ek, hoán-tńg ū sún-hāi nā-tiāⁿ.

Goá chiū koh ìn i kóng, Chó͘-kong ê sîn-hûn kui im-kan, bô koh lâi iông-kan; thái-thó oē chia̍h ah? Chiū siat-sú oē koh lâi sī sîn-hûn; sîn-hûn tek-khak boē chia̍h mi̍h. Nā beh lūn kàu chó͘-kong ê sin-khu, sī í-keng sí kui-thô͘, bah kap kut siau-hoà, bô chhuì bô pak-tó͘, ia̍h sī boē chia̍h lí só͘ hàu ê mi̍h. Tio̍h siūⁿ, pīⁿ tîm-tāng ê sî, siōng-chhiáⁿ boē chia̍h; hô-hòng í-keng sí, sin-khu chhàu-noā, thái-oē koh lâi ê lí ah? Chiū siat-sú oē lâi chia̍h, chi̍t nî hàu nn̄g saⁿ pái, thái-thó ū kàu-gia̍h ah? Lán chi̍t-ji̍t chia̍h saⁿ-tǹg; chó͘-kong chi̍t nî chia̍h saⁿ-tǹg, thái ū kàu-gia̍h ah? Chiok-kiàn sè-sio̍k hàu chè ê hong-sio̍k lóng-sī ké, m̄-sī chin--ê. Chhin-chhiūⁿ Chu-bûn-kong kóng, “Seng put hōng-ióng, sú chè bû-ek.” Koh chhin-chhiūⁿ sio̍k-gú kóng, “Siⁿ bô thang kàu nâ-âu, sí chiah beh chè koaⁿ-chhâ-thâu,” chiū-sī sè-sio̍k chèng-lâng ê ì-sù.
In nn̄g ê choè chi̍t-ē chhiò kóng, Kóng-liáu ta̍k kù chin thong, chin ū iáⁿ; in-uī pīⁿ siong-tiōng ê sî, chin-chiàⁿ liân tê-thng to boē lim; khoàⁿ sí-liáu khì hàu thái-thó oē lâi chia̍h ni̍h? Chin-thong chin-thong. Chóng-sī kóng chi̍t-kù khah tek-choē cheh; chiū-sī goā-kháu ê lâng bô thiaⁿ-kìⁿ sian-siⁿ khai-káng, m̄-chai ché tō-lí chiah thong; lóng-sī kóng, Hoan-á-kàu teh kóng hoan-á-kó͘ nā-tiāⁿ; m̄-chai kóng-liáu to lóng-sī chêng-lí liáu- liáu. Chiū hioh-khùn chia̍h hun.
In chi̍t ê siūⁿ-siūⁿ cheh, chiū koh kóng, Lūn kàu hàu chin-chiàⁿ boē chia̍h mi̍h; in-uī hàu liáu, ta̍k hāng ê mi̍h lóng iáu tī-teh. Chóng-sī chiàu goá teh siūⁿ, káⁿ ū lâi kàm-la̍p hit ê khì-bī; chhin-chhiūⁿ sio-hiuⁿ ū lâi kàm-la̍p hit ê hiuⁿ-ian chi̍t-iūⁿ.
Goá chiū kóng, Che lóng bô pîn-kù, put-kò sī lâng ka-kī phah-sǹg nā-tiāⁿ. Siat-sú ū lâi kàm-la̍p hit ê khì-bī, chiū chiú oē pìⁿ choè chuí, hî-bah koe-ah oē pìⁿ choè tāu-che chháu-phoh chi̍t-iūⁿ. Nā oē án-ni, chiū-sī ū pîn-kù. iáu-kú bē-bat khoàⁿ-kìⁿ ū lâng hàu-liáu, lóng- chóng ê mi̍h oē pìⁿ chhin-chhiūⁿ án-ni; chiok-kiàn lóng sī bô-iáⁿ liáu-liáu.

Goá chiū kóng, Í-keng chai bô lâi chia̍h, thái-oē jím-tit pâi kàu moá toā toh ê mi̍h, lâi moâ lán ê chó͘-kong ah? Chó͘-kong chi̍t tiám chiú boē lim, lán kiò pêng-iú lâi lim kàu chuì; chó͘-kong chi̍t tè bah boē chia̍h, lán kap thong-ke ê lâng, chia̍h kàu pá-tiùⁿ boē iau. Chhin-chhiūⁿ án-ni, thái-thó oē kóng-tit sī kè lán chi̍t-tiám-sim ni̍h? Chiàu-khí-kang, chó͘-kong kī-sîn nā kàu, hit-ji̍t tio̍h chia̍h khah chió, ia̍h tio̍h chia̍h khah bái ê mi̍h. Siat-sú bô án-ni, ia̍h m̄-thang tī hit-ji̍t tiâu-tî lâi lāu-jia̍t, chia̍h siuⁿ hó, chiah boē hoān-tio̍h put-hàu ê choē. In-uī hit ji̍t chin-chiàⁿ sī iu-būn ê sî, m̄- sī hoaⁿ-hí ê sî; thái-oē kò͘-tit ím-iàn khoài-lo̍k ah?
In chi̍t ê chiū kóng, Lūn lí khiok chin-chiàⁿ m̄-thang án-ni lāu-jia̍t ím-iàn; in-uī hit ê khī-sîn, sī chá chó͘-kong kui- sian ê sî-ji̍t, chiàu-gia̍h tio̍h iu-būn boē chia̍h chiah ha̍p-lí. Chóng-sī hiān-sî sè- sio̍k ê lâng bô chi̍t-ê ū siūⁿ kàu chit chat; put-kò sī saⁿ-thàn saⁿ-hán nā-tiāⁿ, éng-bô siūⁿ kàu hit-ê kun-goân cháiⁿ-iūⁿ. 我就應伊講,若留teh,後來的確有傷害,你本身若無koh去拜--伊,就你ê子孫也會去拜--伊。因為到子孫ê時,看見別人teh拜,koh看見家己桌頂有木主,的確有時會受迷惑,想著親像別人來拜。也會想,若拜敢無傷害;若會傷害,父公 是入教ê人,的確無留這個物tī桌頂。心就會扑算著拜較著;koh因為便便tī桌頂,m̄使勞力,就會隨時去拜--伊。親像án-ni後來ê背叛koh較傷重;所以我扑算的確m̄-thang留teh;留teh,永有厄根。親像前tī廈門有一人ài來趁道理入教會,iáu-kú聽教會講m̄-thang chhāi木主;伊ê心無明白這ê木主ê道理,扑算木主已經孝chiah久,的確有神tī-teh,m̄是親像平常ê柴,所以將歸龕ê木主一盡koāⁿ去山頂埋tī墓ni̍h。Che是顯明有疑ngái譴損ê心。所以koh無偌久抵著試煉,就sī-soā 走去山頂,掘hiah-ê木主koh 倒來拜,來服事。後來攏無thang 向望伊koh來反悔;因為「光忽然暗,hit個暗是大。」 親像án-ni thang知厄根的確著除hō͘伊離,chiah boē koh發。著想古早ê人設木主,是beh hō͘人紀念,m̄是beh hō͘人拜;iáu-kú後來攏去拜,去服事--伊。何況這時ê木主,世俗已經本teh服事敬拜;敢 m̄是koh較快迷惑後來ê人,攏去拜去服事伊嗎? 所以的確m̄-thang請留teh。查現時有這號木主ê名,是tuì周朝武王東征伐紂王ê時來--ê;看古文百夷列傳,hit 一篇就會知。因為商朝ê紂王無道,武王ê父文王,本有意思beh去征--伊;不幸文王死;武王續接文王ê心志,愛beh伐紂王。iáu-kú驚人嫌伊不仁,所以用柴牌,寫文王ê名chhāi tī車中,號做文王;hō͘人知伊ê征伐紂王m̄是照伊家己私khia ê意思,是奉天命,kap續接父文王ê心志;所以不得不著征伐紂王。伊設木主ê意思,就是因為án-ni;m̄是beh hō͘人拜--伊,服事--伊。可惜這時世俗相嘆相喊,攏無講究到hit個木主ê根源,是tuì 佗落來--ê;koh初設ê時有甚物意思,攏無想看;隨便從俗,ài hō͘人歡喜。所以若看人拜,伊也拜,看人孝,伊也孝。所以我扑算木主m̄ 但m̄ thang服事,亦m̄ thang請留tī桌頂;因為驚了後來的確有厄根。
In就koh講,若是án-ni,木主就攏廢無嗎? 木主若攏廢無,設使beh孝著怎樣chiah會孝抑?我就應伊講,孝著用真孝,m̄-thang用假孝。ài行真孝,著學舜帝kap曾子ê款式,就是真孝。凡事照道理,安份守己,士農工商認真去做;致到會「揚名聲,顯父母」;che 攏是真孝。可惜人較濟無這號ê真孝,攏是ài趁hit號假孝ê風俗;實在無利益,反轉有損害nā-tiāⁿ。
In就koh講,M̄-kú無孝,祖公會枵。
我就koh應伊講,祖公ê神魂歸陰間,無koh來陽間;thái-thó 會食ah?就設使會koh來是神魂;神魂的確boē食物。若beh論到祖公ê身軀,是已經死歸土,肉kap骨消化,無嘴無腹肚,也是boē食你所孝ê物。著想,病沈重ê時,尚且boē食;何況已經死,身軀臭爛,thái會koh來ê你抑? 就設使會來食,一年孝兩三擺,thái-thó有夠額抑?咱一日食3頓;祖公一年食3頓,thái有夠額抑?足見世俗孝祭ê風俗攏是假,m̄是真--ê。親像朱文公講,「生不奉養,死祭無益。」 koh親像俗語講,「生無thang到嚨喉,死才 beh祭棺柴頭,」就是世俗眾人ê意思。
In兩個做一下笑講,講了逐句真通,真有影;因為病傷重ê時,真正連茶湯都boē lim;看死了去孝thái-thó會來食ni̍h?真通真通。總是講一句較得罪cheh;就是外口ê人無聽見先生開講,m̄知ché道理才通;攏是講:番仔教teh講番仔古nā-tiāⁿ;m̄知講了都攏是情理了了。就歇睏食薰。
In一個想想cheh,就koh講,論到孝真正boē食物;因為孝了,逐項ê物攏iáu tī-teh。總是照我teh想,敢有來鑑納 hit 個氣味;親像燒香有來鑑納hit 個香煙一樣。
我就講:Che攏無憑據,不過是人家己扑算nā-tiāⁿ。設使有來鑑納hit 個氣味,就酒會變做水,魚肉雞鴨會變做豆渣草粕一樣。若會án-ni,就是有憑據。iáu-kú bē-bat看見有人孝了,攏總ê物會變親像án-ni;足見攏是無影了了。
In一個就koh講:Che不過是過咱一點心nā-tiāⁿ。
我就講:已經知無來食,thái會忍得排到滿大桌ê物,來瞞咱ê祖公ah?祖公一點酒boē lim,咱叫朋友來lim到醉;祖公一塊肉boē食,咱kap通家ê人,食到飽脹boē枵。親像án-ni,thái-thó會講得是過咱一點心ni̍h?照起工,祖公忌辰若到,hit日著食較少,也著食較bái ê物。設使無án-ni,也m̄-thang tī hit日刁持來鬧熱,食傷好,chiah boē犯著不孝ê罪。因為hit日真正是憂悶ê時,m̄是歡喜ê時;thái會顧得飲宴快樂抑?
In一個就講,論理卻真正m̄-thang án-ni鬧熱飲宴;因為hit 個忌辰,是早祖公歸仙ê時日,照額著憂悶boē食才合理。總是現時世俗ê人無一個有想到這節;不過是相嘆相喊nā-tiāⁿ,永無想到hit個根源怎樣。親像我若無聽見先生你開講,也無想到這節ê理,永時從俗未是,無管伊了了。
In koh一個講,聽到先生開講chiah-ê話,chhāi木主真正無利益;孝木主實在無采工;扑算也著來入教較好;入教也較省所費。一年千千chiah-ê銀紙香燭,也省得偌濟,就時年八節,公婆時忌若到,亦免得擘腹 煩惱;論真,就著來入教拜上帝較好。hit-ê別ê ê也講,聽候我chiah-ê事路扑較tiâu-ti̍t cheh,我亦beh來kap lín拜上帝lah。大家相辭,就出去講,另日有閒才 koh來。
