In chi̍t-ê chiū kóng, Thiaⁿ-kàu Sian-siⁿ só͘ khai-káng--ê, Sèng-kàu ê tō-lí chin-chiàⁿ sī hó, in-uī ia̍h sī kà lâng tio̍h iú-hàu; put-kò sī kóng m̄-thang pài bo̍k-chú nā-tiāⁿ.
Hit ê tē jī--ê kóng, Thâu-tú-á Sian-siⁿ kóng chit-ê bo̍k-chú sī chi̍t tè sí chhâ-thâu chhin-chhiūⁿ mn̂g-chhoàⁿ, m̄-sī lán ê pē-bú kong-má, chit-hō-oē khiok ia̍h ū-iáⁿ, chi̍t-ē kóng-phoà, si̍t-chāi m̄-ta̍t poàⁿ-ê-chîⁿ, só͘ ū kóng--ê, chin-chiàⁿ chêng-lí; m̄-kú sè-sio̍k thong-thong sī ēng chit-hō bo̍k-chú lâi choè kì-liām, bô chè bo̍k-chú thài-oē kì-liām pē-bú chó͘-kong ah? Goá chiū kóng, ài kì-tit pē-bú chó͘-kong ê kī-sîn, bián ēng bo̍k-chú, tio̍h ēng toā pún ê pe̍h-choá phō͘ lâi kì, sī koh-khah hó, koh-khah siông-sè; in-uī bo̍k-chú lâi kì ia̍h bô joā-choē, toā-pún ê pe̍h-choá phō͘, khoàⁿ ài beh kì káng-chheng-bān-jī, káng-cha̍p-pah-tāi ia̍h oē; chiū beh siu-si̍p ia̍h khah sok-kiat. Goá chiū kóng, Siùⁿ-kang oē-hiáu án-ni siūⁿ, khiok tio̍h; in-uī ēng ka-phó͘, siat-sú beh poaⁿ-soá-uī, ia̍h hó siu-si̍p, boē chhin-chhiūⁿ bo̍k-chú hiah huì-khì, koh boē tek-choē Siōng-tè; in-uī ka-phó͘ bô lâng khì kuī-pài ho̍k-sāi--i, put-kò sī choè kì-liām nā-tiāⁿ.
I siūⁿ-siūⁿ-cheh, chiū koh kóng, Phah-sǹg ka-phó͘ tio̍h ēng, bo̍k-chú ia̍h tio̍h koh ēng, in-uī bô bo̍k-chú kiaⁿ-liáu oē hō͘ lâng kóng sī put-hàu. Chá Teng-lân khek-bo̍k uī tia-niû, chiū oē chiūⁿ jī-cha̍p-sì-hàu ê soaⁿ; che sǹg-sī sian-jîn só͘ siat--ê, phah-sǹg m̄-thang hoè-bô.
Goá chiū koh kā i kóng, Lūn Teng-lân chiūⁿ jī-cha̍p-sì-hàu ê soaⁿ, chit hō ê oē, sǹg-sī hong-tông bô-iáⁿ-chiah-sòng, lóng boē sìn--tit; put-kò sī āu-lâi ê lâng tō͘-choān chhut--lâi, kì-chài tī cha̍p-chheh--ni̍h; ia̍h sǹg sī khoàn-siān ê chheh. Taⁿ lūn Teng-lân ê tāi-chì, chiū-sī kì-chài tī Ji̍t-kì-kò͘-sū jī-cha̍p-sì-hàu ê chheh ni̍h. Chiàu hit pún só͘-kì--ê, sī kóng, Hàn-tiâu ū chi̍t-ê Teng-lân, tuì soè-hàn pē-bú chiū kè-óng; só͘-í kàu toā-hàn siūⁿ beh iú-hàu pē-bú, khó-sioh hàu boē tio̍h. Nā-sī Teng-lân siūⁿ pē-bú khu-lô hoâi-phāu ê un; chiū khek chhâ-siōng lâi ho̍k-sāi--i, chhin-chhiūⁿ ho̍k-sāi oa̍h--ê chi̍t iūⁿ; i-ê bó͘ chi̍t-ê kàu kú, chiū bô kèng ê sim; ēng chiam lâi ui chhâ-siōng ê chńg-thâu-á, chiū ū huih lâu chhut, chhin-chhiūⁿ oa̍h lâng chi̍t-poaⁿ-iūⁿ. Teng-lân m̄-chai chit-ê tāi-chì, put-kò khoàⁿ-kìⁿ chhâ-siōng ba̍k-chiu tiong teh lâu ba̍k-sái; chiū khì mn̄g i-ê bó͘ khoàⁿ sī in-uī sím-mi̍h iân-kò͘, chiah oē chai sī in-uī i-ê bó͘ ēng chiam lâi ui--i. In-uī kóng hit-kù, Teng-lân ê bó͘ ēng chiam lâi ui--i, án-ni thang chai bô iân-kò͘ lâi ui--i, tek-khak bô chit hō chêng-lí; che sī chi̍t hāng.
Koh kóng hit kù, ui-liáu oē lâu-huih, chhin-chhiūⁿ oa̍h lâng chi̍t-poaⁿ-iūⁿ; án-ni thang chai oē lâu-huih, chiū ū huih-kun; ū huih-kun, chiū ū ngó͘-chōng, lio̍k-hú; ia̍h ū chiâu-chn̂g ê bah-thé, chiâⁿ-choè oa̍h lâng. Nā ū-iáⁿ sī án-ni, mih-sái tiāⁿ-tiāⁿ chē tī toh-téng, boē tín-tāng boē choè-siaⁿ, tì-kàu hō͘ Teng-lân ê bó͘ ēng chiam lâi ui--i ? Tek-khak bô ché lí; che sī nn̄g-hāng.

In一個就講,聽教先生所開講--ê,聖教ê道理真正是好,因為也是教人著有孝;不過是講m̄-thang拜木主nā-tiāⁿ。
Hit 個第2個講,頭tú仔 先生講這個木主是一塊死柴頭親像門閂,m̄是咱ê父母公媽,這號話卻也有影,一下講破,實在m̄值半個錢,所有講--ê,真正情理;m̄-kú世俗通通是用這號木主來做記念,無祭木主thài會記念父母祖公ah?所以父母祖公忌辰若到,就是講做忌,其實是做記,ài人記得nā-tiāⁿ。
我就講,ài記得父母祖公ê忌辰,免用木主,著用大本ê白紙簿來記,是koh較好,koh較詳細;因為木主來記也無偌濟,大本ê白紙簿,看ài beh記講千萬字,講十百代也會;就beh收拾也較束結。這號簿,公--ê,是tī宗族ê中央,叫做族譜;私--ê,是tī家內,叫做家譜。我扑算逐人家內著有一本家譜較好,才會知咱tuì 佗落來,tuì甚物祖公出--ê,怎樣分支;koh祖公ê生日忌辰,攏會逐項記明明;看咱愛beh怎樣紀念攏會,比用木主百倍好勢。親像我家己有一本家譜,所以會知到幾十代ê祖公;請提來hō͘ lín看。
In就講,好,提來看。我隨時提hō͘ in看;in看了,一個就講,用ché 法度,真通真好勢;阮卻也有公ê族譜,不過是無私ê家譜nā-tiāⁿ;我扑算後來也著親像先生你ê法度,來抄一本做家譜;若ài看就thang看,較會知咱ê根源;實在真正有影較妥當。
Hit個第2個就講,可惜阮攏無,因為阮ê祖上是出外人,到阮ê序大人手--ni̍h,煞m̄知tuì 佗落開--來-ê,不過有聽見序大人講是泉州祖,iáu-kú m̄知泉州tī甚物縣份,tī甚物鄉社。
我就講,聽相公 án-ni講,實在盡可惜,因為無家譜,也無族譜,續m̄知根源--了;若到親像án-ni,雖然有木主,也無甚物路用lah,到底家譜比木主百倍好勢。
In hit個第2個就koh講:我扑算後來也著照我所知--ê,來記一本,thang hō͘後來ê子孫會bat;若無án-ni,驚了後來那久那m̄知。
我就講,相公會曉án-ni想,卻著;因為用家譜,設使beh搬徙位,亦好收拾,boē親像木主hiah費氣,koh boē得罪上帝;因為家譜無人去跪拜服事--伊,不過是做紀念nā-tiāⁿ。
伊想想cheh,就koh講,扑算家譜著用,木主也著koh用,因為無木主驚了會hō͘人講是不孝。早丁蘭刻木為爹娘,就會上二十四孝ê山;che算是先人所設--ê,扑算m̄-thang廢無。
我就koh kā伊講,論丁蘭上二十四孝ê山,這號ê話,算是荒唐無影跡送,攏boē信--tit;不過是後來ê人杜撰出--來,記載tī雜冊--ni̍h;也算是勸善ê冊。伊ê意思是beh勸人行孝;其實無hit號影跡,攏m̄是聖人賢人ê道理,四書五經亦無記載這號ê事,攏m̄通信--伊;總是若ài議論這節丁蘭刻木為爹娘,就稱做二十四孝ê代誌,我講較詳細hō͘ lín聽。
今論丁蘭ê代誌,就是記載tī日記故事二十四孝ê冊ni̍h。照hit本所記--ê,是講,漢朝有一個丁蘭,tuì細漢父母就過往;所以到大漢想beh有孝父母,可惜孝boē著。但是丁蘭想父母劬勞懷抱ê恩;就刻柴像來服事--伊,親像服事活--ê一樣;伊ê某一個夠久,就無敬ê心;用chiam來ui柴像ê指頭仔,就有血流出,親像活人一般樣。丁蘭m̄知這個代誌,不過看見柴像目珠中teh流目屎;就去問伊ê某看是因為甚物緣故,才會知是因為伊ê某用針來ui--伊。丁蘭受氣,隨時將伊ê某放sak離--去。今就hit本冊所記載ê故事來論,也會明明知是無影。因為講hit句,丁蘭ê某用針來ui--伊,án-ni thang知無緣故來ui--伊,的確無這號情理;che是一項。
Koh講hit句,ui了會流血,親像活人一般樣;án-ni thang知會流血,就有血根;有血根,就有五臟、六腑;亦有齊全 ê肉體,成做活人。若有影是án-ni,mih使定定坐tī桌頂,boē振動boē做聲,致到hō͘丁蘭ê某用chiam來ui- -伊? 的確無ché 理;che是兩項。
Koh講到hit句,丁蘭m̄知,是看見柴像目珠流目屎,問伊ê某才知。án-ni咱thang想柴像若會流血,也會流目屎;就的確會講話thang投丁蘭,mih使聽候到丁蘭問伊ê某chiah知?足見無ché理氣;che是三項。今m̄使講傷濟,就這3項來推理來想;就thang知明明是無影無跡ê故事。因為設使木主敬了會變做活人,就天下ê人,死父母m̄使苦,因為死柴會變活人;若是tuì古早堯舜到今,bē-bat聽見這號ê理,就四書五經亦無這號ê話。
