Thiⁿ-ē ta̍k-kok ê jī bô lóng siāng-khoán; tàu-tí lóng ū lō͘-ēng; taⁿ chè pe̍h-oē-jī iā sī bûn-jī-tiong ê chi̍t-luī, i-ê lī-ek lâng, pí pa̍t-hō ê jī, iáu ū khah-kín khah-khoài . Taⁿ chiong i-ê lō͘-ēng tāi-lio̍k lâi kóng tī ē-té .

Pe̍h-oē-jī ē pang-chān kàu-hoē heng-ōng, tú-tio̍h khún-tio̍k bē hoè-bô . Kàu-hoē só͘-í bô heng-ōng, in-uī ji̍p-kàu ê lâng bô chhim-chai tō-lí; bô chhim-chai tō-lí, in-uī ka-tī bē-hiáu tha̍k Sèng-keng; bē-hiáu tha̍k Sèng-keng, in-uī m̄-bat jī . Khóng-chú-jī oh ké-soeh, nā bat bô chhim, iû-goân khoàⁿ bē-lâi; kan-ta thiaⁿ Sian-siⁿ kóng, chiū só͘ bat--ê iú-hān, bô thiaⁿ-tio̍h--ê chiū m̄-chai; thiaⁿ kú--ê iū bē kì-tit, hô-hòng ū sî hō͘-lâi chuí-chhim chó͘-tòng; sè-sū kiáu-jiáu, pēⁿ-thiàⁿ chó͘-gāi, bē-ē ta̍k lé-pài lóng kàu lé-pài-tn̂g thiaⁿ tō-lí ? Koh thiaⁿ-kìⁿ A-hui-lī-ka ê tang-pêng ū chi̍t-ê hái-sū, miâ Má-ta̍t-ka-su-ka, tī hia kàu-hoē tú-tio̍h khún-tio̍k, jī-gō͘-nî-kú bô Bo̍k-su tī-teh ; kàu khún-tio̍k soah, Bo̍k-su koh khì, khoàⁿ-kìⁿ sìn Chú ê lâng pí-chêng koh khah-chē; chiū-sī in-uī ū pún-tē ê pe̍h-oē-jī ê Sèng-chheh tī-teh, lâng ē hiáu ka-tī tha̍k. Pe̍h-oē-jī ē hō͘ lú-jîn ū tì-huī . Hū-jîn-lâng ê châi-tiāu bô khah-su ta-po͘-lâng, só͘-í ē bô ha̍k-būn, in-uī Khóng-chú-jī oh-tha̍k . Nā boeh tha̍k pe̍h-oē-jī, tuì la̍k-hoè kàu cha̍p-hoè sì-nî ê kú, chiū bô bē-hiáu-siá ê jī, ia̍h bô bē-hiáu-tha̍k ê chheh ; án-ni kiám m̄-sī chin toā ê lō͘-ēng?

Pe̍h-oē-jī ē hō͘ ta̍k-téng chò-kang ê lâng ē hiáu tha̍k Sèng-chheh, kap chai chē-chē hāng ê tāi-chì. Ta̍k-téng chò-kang ê lâng ta̍k-ji̍t ū kang tîⁿ-poàⁿ, iáu-kú nā boeh tha̍k pe̍h-oē-jī ún-tàng ē khí-lâi. Goá khoàⁿ hiān-sî teh thiaⁿ tō-lí--ê khah-chē sī choh-sit kap cháu-thàn ê lâng, pún m̄-bat poàⁿ-jī; tuì thiaⁿ tō-lí chiàⁿ ta̍k-pái An-hioh-ji̍t o̍h tha̍k jī-bó, tng tú-á teh-tha̍k ê sî m̄-káⁿ siūⁿ ē bat, nā-sī kàu-boé lóng ē ka-tī tha̍k, m̄-bián tiāⁿ-tiāⁿ oá-khò pa̍t-lâng lâi kà . Pe̍h-oē-jī ē hō͘ lâng khah-khoài bat Khóng-chú-jī. Nā seng tha̍k pe̍h-oē-jī kàu ē siá, tī tha̍k Khóng-chú-jī ê sî hoān ū m̄-bat ê jī, kap bē-hiáu ké-soeh ê ì-gī; nā-sái mn̄g sian-siⁿ chi̍t-pái, ēng pe̍h-oē-jī chù -bêng, chiū ē ka-tī tha̍k, m̄-bián kiaⁿ koh bē kì-tit; án-ni sī tha̍k Khóng-chú-jī, iā tio̍h kiam ēng pe̍h-oē-jī . pe̍h-oē-jī oē hō͘ m̄ bat tha̍k Khóng-chú-jī ê lâng bat Khóng-chú-jī. Goá só͘ bat ê thoân-tō ê lâng, lāi-tiong ū nn̄g lâng chū soè bô tha̍k-chheh, kàu jī-cha̍p chhut-thâu hè chiah thiaⁿ tō-lí, o̍h-tha̍k pe̍h-oē-jī; hiān-sî liân Tn̂g-lâng-jī ê Sèng-chheh, kap sin-bûn iā khoàⁿ oē lâi: nā m̄ sī bat pe̍h-oē-jī thài-thó ū thang án-ni?

Pe̍h-oē-jī ē hō͘ lâng khoài tù-chheh. Lâng nā bat pe̍h-oē-jī hoān ū lī-ek lâng ê tāi-chì, ài tù-chheh pò lâng chai, thang suî-siūⁿ suî-siá; m̄-bián hoân-ló bô bûn-hoat, bô tiám-kù, hō͘ lâng iàm-chiān m̄ ài khoàⁿ i só͘ tù ê chheh . ia̍h ē hō͘ khoàⁿ-chheh ê lâng khoài bêng, m̄-bián ū-ê khoàⁿ ē bêng, ū-ê khoàⁿ bē-bêng ê chó͘-gāi . Nā ēng Khóng-chú-jī tù-chheh bô hiah khoài, beh khoàⁿ lâng só͘ tù ê chheh kàu lóng bêng iā sī oh. M̄ ta̍t-tio̍h pe̍h-oē-jī ha̍p nn̄g-pêng ê lâng ê lī-piān.

Pe̍h-oē-jī ē hō͘ sàn-hiong-lâng ê chú-tē ū tì-huī. Sàn-hiong-lâng ê chú-tē châi-chêng bē lóng khah-su hó-gia̍h-lâng ê chú-tē ; khó-sioh sè-hàn ê sî i bô tha̍k-chheh ; á-sī tha̍k bô kuí-nî koh khì chò-kang, kàu-boé ū tha̍k ná bô tha̍k, iû-goân m̄-bat jī. Pe̍h-oē-jī nā tha̍k kàu ē siá, chiū m̄-bián-kiaⁿ ē huì-bô-khì, in-uī ū jī-bó thang chhiat-im, chi̍t-ē ho͘, jī chiū tī-teh ; khoàⁿ beh kóng sím-mi̍h oē, siūⁿ lâi tàu chiū ū jī, m̄-bián chhin-chhiūⁿ Khóng-chú-jī ū tha̍k-tio̍h--ê chiàⁿ bat, bô tha̍k-tio̍h--ê chiū m̄-bat . Koh tio̍h ū tha̍k koè, chiàⁿ chai hit-ê kò͘-tián, bô tha̍k-koè, chiū m̄-chai hit-ê in-iû. Koh lâng nā beh bat Khóng-chú-jī kàu khoàⁿ ē lâi, siá ē khì, tio̍h tuì sè-hàn ti̍t-ti̍t tha̍k kàu chiâⁿ-cha̍p-nî-kú chiàⁿ-ē, iā ū kàu chiâⁿ cha̍p-nî-kú, kah i tha̍k pun lâng thiaⁿ, kóng bē tit-lâi; ū tāi-chì kah i kì, siá bē tit lâi. Pe̍h-oē-jī m̄-bián tha̍k hiah-chē-nî: m̄-bián tuì sè-hàn tha̍k nā kàu bat, beh-tha̍k beh-siá bô m̄ suî -ì . Kàu-hoē-tiong ê lâng chia̍h kàu saⁿ-cha̍p-goā-hoè, sì-cha̍p-goā-hoè, gō͘-cha̍p-hoè chiah o̍h-tha̍k pe̍h-oē-jī ê lâng put-chí chē, koah-sī kàu se̍k-se̍k ē tha̍k hō͘ pa̍t-lâng thiaⁿ. Ū chè pe̍h-oē-jī, sàn-hiong lâng ê chú-tē m̄-bián khó͘ m̄-bat jī .

Pe̍h-oē-jī ē hō͘ bô siū kàu-hoà ê lâng pìⁿ-chò ū ha̍k-būn; kū-té bô-jī pìⁿ-kàu ū jī. Chá-ji̍t lâm-iûⁿ chē-chē hái-sū bô siū kàu-hoà; m̄-bat lé-gî, sīm-chì thâi-sí lâng soà chia̍h-bah. Tuì ū Bo̍k-su khì thoân tō-lí, ha̍k-si̍p i-ê thó͘-im chhòng pe̍h-oē-jī ; tuì án-ni hong-sio̍k toā piàn-oāⁿ, lâng chiām-chiām ū tì-huī, kok-tō͘ ná -kú ná-heng ; kàu-hoē lâng-gia̍h chi̍t-nî chi̍t-nî ke. M̄-sī pe̍h-oē-jī, thài-thó ē hō͘ bô jī ê só͘-chāi pìⁿ-chò ū jī, piàn-oāⁿ kàu hiah-kín ? Lán ê Hông-tè chai soaⁿ--ni̍h ê chhiⁿ-hoan m̄-bat lé-gî, tiâu-tî siat gī-o̍h chhiáⁿ sian-siⁿ lâi kà, tuì siat kàu-taⁿ chiong-kīn peh-nî-kú; chha-put-to bô chi̍t-ê bat-jī . In-uī jī kap oē bô siāng, tāi-seng kan-ta tha̍k jī-im lóng bē-hiáu sím-mi̍h ì-sù, tha̍k-liáu tio̍h koh ké-soeh. Hiah-ê chhiⁿ-hoan ê gín-ná kan-ta thiaⁿ Sian-siⁿ kóng, ná chhin-chhiūⁿ ah-á thiaⁿ luî, thiaⁿ chi̍t-ê siaⁿ tiāⁿ-tiāⁿ. Phì-jū nā chiong pe̍h-oē-jī hoan-e̍k in ê im, tha̍k in ê oē, tek-khak khah ū èng-hāu .

Goá chiàu goá gû-gōng ê ì-kiàn, chiong pe̍h-oē-jī kap Khóng-chú-jī saⁿ-pí lâi-lūn, m̄-sī hiâm Khóng-chú-jī bô lō͘-ēng; put-kò kóng pe̍h-oē-jī khah khoài bat, hō͘ lâng khah-kín chìn-pō͘ ; m̄-bián kàu kú-kú tiāⁿ-tiāⁿ hō͘ jī pa̍k-teh . iū koh ha̍p tī lâm-hū ló-iù, pîn-chiān hù-kuì ta̍k-téng ê lâng lóng tha̍k ē khí. án-ni kiám m̄-sī put-chí toā lō͘-ēng?

Lâng chún-nā bat Khóng-chú-jī kàu chin-chhim, nā koh ke bat pe̍h-oē-jī, iā-sī ke chi̍t-hāng ê lō͘-ēng. Kiám ū lâng hiâm kóng bat siuⁿ-chē-iūⁿ-jī m̄-hó mah?

白話字ê利益

1886.01 第七張 p.42-44

(前第1、第2、第3張ê教會報,有印葉牧師所做論白話字ê利益。今將劉茂清第二名ê論印tī chia hō͘ lín讀。伊所做ê 較短,所以thang做一下印。)

天下逐國ê字無攏像款;到底攏有路用;今製白話字也是文字中ê一類,伊ê 利益人,比別號ê字,iáu有較緊較快。今將伊ê 路用大略來講tī 下底。

白話字會幫贊教會興旺,tú著窘逐bē廢無。教會所以無興旺,因為入教ê人無深知道理;無深知道理,因為家己bē 曉讀聖經;bē 曉讀聖經,因為m̄-bat字。孔子字oh解說,若bat無深,猶原看bē 來;kan-ta聽先生講,就所bat--ê有限,無聽著--ê就m̄ 知;聽久--ê 又bē記tit,何況有時雨來水深阻擋;世事攪擾,病疼阻礙,bē會逐禮拜攏到禮拜堂聽道理?聽道理ê人若肯勤讀白話字,就一年久不論男婦老幼攏會家己讀聖經,較知道理;m̄ 免聽候到拜堂聽道理,tī 家內早暗也thang讀,得著利益。Koh有時tú著阻擋bē tàng到拜堂受教示,就thang家己看淺明道理ê冊,養飼心神,也會利益聽ê人。教會ê人若無看輕白話字,的確會那久那大進步。Koh聽見阿非利加ê東爿有一個海嶼,名馬達加斯加,tī hia教會tú著窘逐,二五年久無牧師tī-teh;到窘逐煞,牧師koh去,看見信主ê人比前koh較濟;就是因為有本地ê白話字ê聖冊tī--teh,人會曉家己讀。Che thang憑據教會ê人m̄-thang無讀白話字。

白話字會hō͘ 女人有智慧,婦人人ê才調無較輸查甫人,所以會無學問,因為孔子字oh讀。若boeh讀白話字,對六歲到十歲四年ê久,就無bē 曉寫ê字,亦無bē 曉讀ê冊;án-ni kiám m̄ 是真大ê路用?

白話字會hō͘ 逐等做工ê人會曉讀聖冊,kap知濟濟項ê代誌。逐等做工ê人逐日有工纏poàⁿ,iáu-kú若boeh讀白話字穩當會起來。我看現時teh聽道理--ê較濟是作穡kap走趁ê人,本 m̄-bat半字;對聽道理正逐擺安歇日學讀字母,當tú仔teh讀ê 時 m̄ 敢想會bat,但是到尾攏會家己讀,m̄ 免定定倚靠別人來教。將來白話字那濟人bat,就白話字ê冊也會那出那濟樣,kiám-chhái天文地理ê冊;抑是算學格物ê冊;歷代ê代誌,逐國ê新聞;che攏會加添人ê智慧;án-ni生kiám thang講白話字 m̄ 免讀會做tit?

白話字會hō͘ 人較快bat孔子字。若先讀白話字到會寫,tī 讀孔子字ê時凡有m̄ bat ê字,kap bē 曉解說ê意義;若sái問先生一擺,用白話字注明,就會家己讀,m̄ 免驚koh bē記--tit;án-ni是讀孔子字,也著兼用白話字。白話字會hō͘ m̄-bat讀孔子字ê人bat孔子字。我所bat ê傳道ê人,內中有兩人自細無讀冊,到二十出頭歲才聽道理,學讀白話字;現時連唐人字ê聖冊,kap新聞也看會來:若 m̄ 是bat白話字thài-thó有thang án-ni?

白話字會hō͘ 人快著冊。人若bat白話字凡有利益人ê代誌,ài著冊報人知,thang隨想隨寫;m̄ 免煩惱無文法,無點句,hō͘ 人iàm-chiān m̄ ài看伊所著ê冊。亦會hō͘ 看冊ê人快明,m̄ 免有ê 看會明,有ê 看bē明ê阻礙。若用孔子字著冊無hiah快,beh看人所著ê冊到攏明也是難。M̄值著白話字合兩爿ê人ê利便。

白話字會hō͘ 散hiong人ê子弟有智慧。散hiong人ê子弟才情bē攏較輸好額人ê子弟;可惜細漢ê時伊無讀冊;抑是讀無幾年koh去做工,到尾有讀那無讀,猶原m̄-bat字。白話字若讀到會寫,就 m̄ 免驚會廢無去,因為有字母thang切音,一下呼,字就tī-teh;看beh講甚物話,想來鬥就有字,m̄ 免親像孔子字有讀著--ê正bat,無讀著--ê就m̄-bat。Koh著有讀過,正知hit個故典,無讀--過,就 m̄ 知hit個因由。Koh人若beh bat孔子字到看會來,寫會去,著對細漢直直讀到成十年久正會,也有到成十年久,教伊讀分人聽,講bē tit來;有代誌教伊記,寫bē tit來。白話字 m̄ 免讀hiah濟年:m̄ 免對細漢讀若到bat,beh讀beh寫無 m̄ 隨意。教會中ê人食到三十外歲,四十外歲,五十歲才學讀白話字ê人不止濟,割示到熟悉會讀hō͘ 別人聽。有製白話字,散hiong人ê子弟 m̄ 免苦 m̄-bat字。

白話字會hō͘無受教化ê人變做有學問;舊底無字變到有字。早日南洋濟濟海嶼無受教化;m̄-bat 禮儀,甚至thâi死人續食肉。對有牧師去傳道理,學習伊ê 土音創白話字;對án-ni風俗大變換,人漸漸有智慧,國度那久那興;教會人額一年一年加。M̄是白話字,thài-thó會hō͘ 無字ê 所在變做有字,變換到hiah緊?咱ê皇帝知山--ni̍h ê生番 m̄-bat禮儀,刁持設義學請先生來教,對設到今將近8年久;差不多無一個bat字。因為字kap話無像,代先kan-ta讀字音攏bē 曉甚物意思,讀了著koh解說。Hiah-ê生番ê囡仔kan-ta聽先生講,那親像鴨仔聽雷,聽一個聲tiāⁿ-tiāⁿ。譬喻若將白話字翻譯in ê音,讀in ê話,的確較有應效。

我照我愚戇ê意見,將白話字kap孔子字相比來論,m̄ 是嫌孔子字無路用;不過講白話字較快bat,hō͘ 人較緊進步;m̄ 免到久久tiāⁿ-tiāⁿ hō͘ 字縛teh。又koh合tī 男婦老幼,貧賤富貴逐等ê人攏讀會起。án-ni kiám m̄ 是不止大路用?

人準若bat孔子字到真深,nā koh加bat白話字,也是加一項ê路用。Kiám有人嫌講bat siuⁿ濟樣字 m̄ 好mah?
